Re: networking
开云体育If this setup would work at all, I think you would have to put the 2.4 router in bridge mode. Are you renting the Verizon routers? If so, would it not be cheaper to own your own device?

networking
so not exactly?Mac, but I'm having issues printing from my macs...? Story:? Verizon has sent me 4 routers, and they all fail to keep a 2.4ghz band working. The 5ghz is consistent.? So, one solution is for me to simply add a 2.4ghz separate router.? The need is for my wifi printer and also a few IOT devices, including a wifi thermostat, which all use 2.4 and not 5.? Ok, so I bought a small 2.4 only router. plugged it into?ethernet.? Attached devices, and they get internet and connect ok - EXCEPT that the printer, which?in the 2.4ghz router (NOT the guest network) is not visible to the rest of the network.? Am I misunderstanding how the router works? that the printer should?be visible to the whole network when it's connected through the regular 2.4 ghz band of a router?that is on my ethernet?? What does work, is if I make the mac mini connect to the 2.4 ghz wifi, then it also sees the printer, but only if they are on the exact same wifi band.? that is less than ideal for other reasons.? thanks for any tips.? Re: loading background pictures
That is normal. You really don't want "remote content" enabled in your e-mail client. It is only an issue with HTML in e-mail. The infamous web beacons are not possible in normal plain text mails.

loading background pictures
开云体育Hi,? I may have asked this but don’t remember. (still having sending problems!) When I open any Website or ?email I get this Having email issues every day so this may be a duplicate : Once I press on the link ?I get all the pictures or background information. Did I press something wrong in settings to make this happen or it this something new? I may have signed up for a beta Apple situation to get new beta updates but I haven’t downloaded any of those and can’t figure out how to get out of it. Am I the only one getting this load content link? I would much rather get all the pictures than have to press that link every single time. Thanks, Ellen |
Re: Power problem
I actually started with a licence for DiskAid before it got rebranded to iMazing. I use it for the "few other things" and I have both iMazing for Mac and iMazing for Windows, but I never looked for a "battery health" option. My iMazing licence is "perpetual", but it is one of the very few where I am thinking about the subscription for the already mentioned but not yet available iMazing 3.

I only used it to check battery health. Have to download it to and connect your iPad to another computer, but it did what I wanted it to. It costs somewhere around $50 US if you decide to keep it. I had only been giving my iPad short little charges, probably less that 30% and after a while it decided it did not to charge at all. I did what has been suggested here, treated it like a Ni-Cad. Ran it down completely and then charged it fully overnight. Trouble free since. On Jul 27, 2023, at 5:24 AM, maclists <maclists@...> wrote: |
Re: Power problem
I will try the "free" version. I don't mind actually paying for "perpetual" licences. It is the dreaded "subscription" i.e. renting that I don't like.

You can get this info from Apple Menu > About This Mac > System Report > Hardware > Power*, and I’m sure that’s where coconutBattery gets it from. The great thing about the app is that it maintains a history, so each time you run it, it adds a record to that history, so you can see how the battery has declined over time.

Re: Reliable sources of used computers.
I think that depends on the item. I quite often see an option to purchase a warranty when I buy things from Amazon Germany. I don't know about other Amazon websites, but I know a telephone number for Amazon Germany (a normal one, not one that causes additional per minute charges on top of the actual cost of the phone call).

Thanks for the pointer to Backmarket. Always good to know about alternatives and places that will deliver to addresses outside the USA without horrendous shipping costs and customs import duties.

I found this: , but unfortunately there does not seem to be an e-mail address or phone number and it means creating an account on the website. I don't have a delivery address in Germany, but I do have one in an EU country and that was never a problem with Amazon Germany. Maybe I will create a temporary account and look for "live chat" and some telephone numbers. Re: Power problem
I read through the homepage of coconutBattery and I see many mentions of “iOS,” which appear to refer to both iPhones and iPads. This is a fair approach in my book. I don’t see any mention of iOS version compatibility. After all, coconutBattery is a Mac app that provides information about Mac, iPhone, and iPad batteries. The app does not itself run on iPhone or iPad devices.

For what it’s worth, a little history: The first iPhones shipped with iPhoneOS. This lasted through iPhoneOS 3, version 3.2 of which also ran on the first iPad in 2010. Later that year, Apple changed the branding for iOS 4 with compatibility on both iPhone and iPad, though not an identical operating system install on each device. As of version 13, Apple split the branding to iOS and iPadOS for the respective devices, but this didn’t exactly represent a change in the mobile device operating system itself, which already differentiated between iPhone and iPad. Re: Power problem
coconutBattery as been around since before iDevices. ipadOS is only a couple of years old. I am sure the lack of a mention of ipadOS is just an oversight by the developer. IOS used to be used on iPads.

Re: Power problem
开云体育Bob, you might research calibrating the battery. It might be off a little, but I have heard of it being off by anything significant.?My guess is the 6% is fairly accurate. Only 2 years on a battery is possible.? As to MBP reliability, my early 2008 MBP, under warranty, it has gone thru a motherboard early on, and 2 keyboard, as the warranty was running out. It is on its 3rd removable battery. Only issues are that it has an old OS and old 3rd party software.? Brent On my iPhone Xr On Jul 26, 2023, at 13:07, Bob Gerard <rowerbob@...> wrote:
