Re: Display
Hi Hoffy I sprayed some contact cleaner down the cables where I could as they were tight and I didn't want to do more damage as I have no spares.Appears to be working at the moment will just have to wait

Hi Morrie, I had a similar problem with my 7000, I ended up replacing the ribbons but you might want to try just sliding them around a little within the sockets without actually pulling them out. These ribbons are all getting a bit long in the tooth now and by replacing all of them, most of my intermittent problems vanished. |

Greetings: I have found that removing the front panel, then using Q-Tips and alcohol to clean the mating contacts on both the panel AND the transceiver chassis will fix this and other similar problems.? The contact surface area is so small that the slightest amount of dust, muck, etc., can cause problems.? I've had my 7K since 2009 (moving it between a house, car, RV, and boat over the years) and have had to do this a few times. 73, Bob, WB2DWD On Tue, Nov 23, 2021 at 9:05 PM ZL2AAA <zl2aaa@...> wrote: Hi All My ic7000 is not showing anything on the display no frequency |

Re: Hello to the group, and an IC-7000 problem.
I couldn't agree more. Matt at SARTS1 is outstanding. Seven years ago my IC-7000 suddenly without warning went dead, that is no RF out on any band. I too did my research, and decided to sent to Matt after chatting with him on the phone. I found that his current rates today, are just a tad higher than they were back then, which in today's economy, are almost no increase by comparison. My problem was that the driver transistor, driver module and PA transistor had to be replaced. He went through the whole radio and performed some updates of that time and checked the alignment and setting values of the whole transceiver. It took about 4 weeks to finish the job due to his backlog. The radio was perfect, and I have been a very happy camper since then. Just my story. If I had to have any of my Icom radios repaired, from this experience, there is no place else that I would go.

SARS is top notch . I’ve had two pieces of Icom gear repaired with a fair price and decent turnaround time. Good communication also. I have also used MTS but they are twice the distance from me compared to SARS. Shipping = $$$ On Sun, Nov 14, 2021 at 10:51 AM Ken N6PCD <n6pcd1@...> wrote: Hi Don W3DRM, --

Hi Don W3DRM,
My bad, thanks for catching that! I just received my 7300 back from Scott this past week and wasn’t aware that he was retiring. That’ll teach me to review the website before recommending someone! I do wish Scott a happy and healthy retirement! -- All the best, Ken N6PCD |

开云体育I use Ham Radio Deluxe? computer software for about 4 years now with my Icom 7000's ( I own two).? HRD allows? instant point & click access to all functions that I frequently use. I started with the older free version, and gladly moved up to the paid version and happily renew every year.? Its a whole lot easier than chasing through the 7K's buttons and menus.? ? 73// John K3NOQ/5 Tab A |

My 7000 from back in 2005 is still working just fine and without any issues at all. Has never needed any services. I do vacuum and blow it out periodically but otherwise, it just runs. I use it mainly as a base unit but have used it mobile too. It's a nice little rig. 73 - Don - W3DRM |

As a suggestion that may help in understanding the menus is to consider adding a 7" or possibly 15" or so external monitor that will accept composite video (it will have a yellow marking and it will be an RCA connector). The 7000 is one of the few older radios I think that allow external monitors to be used. I found that this makes working with an IC-7000 somewhat easier. You should be able to find a monitor online without too much trouble, I hope. You might check out this website:? ?? for some guidance, as well as Youtube and other websites.? The Nifty Manual is also what I use most all of the time, and I'm 81. I hope this helps. It all sure helped me. |

Hi Peter,
Here’s a handy exploit I use with the IC-7000 user manual: 1. Download a PDF reader like Adobe Acrobat. 2. Download the IC-7000 manual from icom. The Acrobat reader allows you to make word and phrase queries. Then you can highlight the relevant text and even add your own notes. ? I’ve found this to be tremendously helpful over the years. -- All the best, Ken N6PCD |
