Re: [IC-7000] Power Bar reading.
That is what I was thinking. What does the poster have his rig hooked up to and if he is adjusting everything manually he can over-ride the default settings and make the radio read any power he sets

Rick, I went thru this anxiety as well, everyone is correct, it is not for 2
meters etc.. Forget its there, I had to learn the hared way too :) you can
reset the radio to default and sometimes it

Re: [IC-7000] RE: Power Bar reading.
I don't understand how feed line length would result in high SWR using a dummy load at VHF or UHF, unless the load or coax are way out of spec.
It is true that loads are transformed by feed line

Re: Power Bar reading.
Lead length (at least less than several hundred feet) will not affect SWR if
the dummy load is 50 ohm.. Lead length will cause power loss.

Re: [IC-7000] RE: Power Bar reading.
Well for some reason I have half scale reading ALC 2m FM and 0 scale reading 70cm FM this is what makes it very confusing and know I am not looking at the swr meter.
Cheers Rick.

Plus remember that the swr meter does not work on vhf/uhf. You may have a
high swr even with a dummy load due to lead length.

Re: [IC-7000] Power Bar reading.
Hi yes with a power level of 14 volts and a source supply capable of 27 amps there is no problem.
?most will give what is the specs mentioned in the manual. however with a source less than that the

Re: [IC-7000] Power Bar reading.
The power out reads in percent of maximize power for whatever band you tune to; ie 100% on 73 cm should be 35 watts.?
On 2m 100% would be 50 watts.?
On HF 100% would be 100 watts.?

Re: [IC-7000] RE: Power Bar reading.
I get pretty much 100% on all bands, but it does vary with battery voltage and antenna VSWR. The only way to know for sure is to check the output with a calibrated power meter (and check the antenna

Here's another one I'm just giving a try. Supports all banks and tweaking of other functions of the radio.

Re: [IC-7000] RE: Power Bar reading.
On FM there should be no ALC; ALC is a function of modulation on AM modes,
AM and SSB. This is kind of basic Amateur Radio...(?)

Re: Power Bar reading.
On FM, the ALC indicator doesn't follow voice peaks, since FM is a constant carrier mode. Ignore ALC in FM, AM, CW, etc. It will vary depending on which band is used, what the DC supply voltage is

Re: [IC-7000] Power Bar reading.
On 2 meters, the power should be about 50%, on 440, (70cm) it should be
about 35%. The rig does not put out "full" power on vhf or uhf. Your rig is
fine. The manual is crowded with stuff and difficult
