Hi yes with a power level of 14 volts and a source supply capable of 27 amps there is no problem. ?most will give what is the specs mentioned in the manual. however with a source less than that the power levels will be less than expected. ? ? ? ? ? ?
The power out reads in percent of maximize power for whatever band you tune to; ie 100% on 73 cm should be 35 watts.? On 2m 100% would be 50 watts.? On HF 100% would be 100 watts.? ? ? ? The exception would if there is an antenna inballance or low voltage. You need 14+volts for the highest output. The ALC has nothing to do with power output unless you over drive the radio in AM or SSB. Then the ALC will limit PO to prevent damage to the radio.? You might want to make sure you looking at the PO indicator and not ALC red bar that goes about half way across the screen in FM mode and is just under the PO indicator.? -------- Original message -------- From: Alex Netherton Date: 12/23/2013 10:58 AM (GMT-08:00) To: ic7000@... Subject: Re: [IC-7000] Power Bar reading. ? On 2 meters, the power should be about 50%, on 440, (70cm) it should be about 35%. The rig does not put out "full" power on vhf or uhf. Your rig is fine. The manual is crowded with stuff and difficult to understand in places (I have to read some passages at least 3 times). If you don't have one, one can be downloaded in .pdf format from the Icom America website. KC4BO73 Alex Netherton On Sun, Dec 22, 2013 at 10:31 PM, <rickmandziak@...> wrote:
