Re: ic-7000 alc voltages on IC-1601 and Q1604

I think I wrote something on this long enough ago that I have forgotten most of it. Do a search and see. I worked on the ALC extensively at one time, but I forget the specifics.

Re: ic-7000 alc voltages on IC-1601 and Q1604

Thanks Steve,

I was already using your measurements from your past post to troubleshoot this units operation.? ?At R1624 and Q1606, Im getting about 2.5 volts no ptt, and 1.4 with ptt, both being quite unstable.? 14.2 Mhz fm, max power setting. That results in about 350mW from PA and solid red alc.? Somewhere, the alc line is being pulled slightly lower than it should.? The hunt continues...

Thanks for all your good info about the 7K over the years.

Ross

Re: ic-7000 alc voltages on IC-1601 and Q1604

Looks like I can't upload a file to the Group, so here a copy & paste of some levels I took In 2012 at a slightly different component:

Set your 7K to 14.2MHz, FM Mode, 100% TX PO into a dummy load. Measure ALC voltage at junction of R1624 and Q1606 with DVM or scope. With mic unkeyed ALC should measure about 2.88 VDC. With mic keyed it should be about 1.99 VDC and the ALC display should have all green bars on.

Change TX PO to 50%. With mic keyed ALC should be about 1.91 VDC and ALC display should have red bars on.

Change TX PO to 10% and ALC should measure about 1.86 VDC.

For reference, in SSB mode with mic unkeyed ALC measures about 2.76 VDC. With mic keyed and normal voice level (only 1-2 green bars on ALC display voltge is still about 2.76 VDC. Turn mic gain up and give a loud AHHHH into mic and ALC goes to 2.25 VDC and most red bars on ALC display should be on.

This gives you an idea of how little of a variation in ALC is used to control bias of the IF gain to control power output. Actual voltages will vary a little depending on overall TX gain, power supply voltage, temperature, etc.

ic-7000 alc voltages on IC-1601 and Q1604

Has anyone recorded the proper voltages under any condition at IC1601, particularly pins 8, 9 and 10. And the area of Q1604?

If so, thanks!

Has any one had this problem ?
An e-mail was sent to RT and they told me to try again to enter the program into my computer .
Same thing, no call book to drag and drop the frequencies into the 700 ?? ? ?

Re: rt system program

I think that you can export your local repeaters from RepeaterBook on the web, You will get a file (perhaps CSV) that you can import into RT systems.
It takes a little looking for the correct files etc, but I think it can be done .

Re: Icom7000 set up with WSJT-X

The IC-7200 and IC-7000 have different addresses for the C-IV.
The default for IC-7000 is 70h or hex address 70?
The default for? IC-7300 is 94h or hex 94
Check the address in your radio to be sure.
Also be sure to match baud rate as well

Re: Icom7000 set up with WSJT-X

I have done this many times with my IC7000 by following the manual for the Signal Link USB and manual for WSJT-X.? First of all, I purchased the IC-7000/FT-817 jumper module SLMMOD6PM for the Signal Link and installed that first thing. This module sets the correct rig jumpers in the 6-pin mini-DIN Data Port. If you don't have the module, you have to place jumpers properly as shown in the manual. You have to open the Signal Link to access this Port.? Then I simply followed the manuals. I set my power to 50W before operating. I use HRD for logging and find that WSJT-X plays well with HRD. There is a selection for IC-7000 in both. I'm sure setting for an IC-7300 won't work with an IC-7000.??
The relevant manuals are all available on-line.? The instructions to do all this can be found there. I've operated portable with my IC-7000 using PSK then later, FT-8 many many times with this setup.?

Helping a friend over the radio and trying to help him get WSJT-X running with his 7000 and a Signalink interface. Can someone provide me with the instructions to do this. Getting the rig error message at this time. The setting from my 7300 don't appear to work.
Thanks Chuck? K3CLT

Re: rt system program ic7000?

It is the CIV jack - I have the same cable / SW.

Low TX Audio

After an RF feedback event, my IC7000 has very low TX audio. The TX power meter barely moves when speaking into the microphone in SSB mode, and on FM, the deviation is only 1 kHz. The MIC Gain setting in the menu is at maximum. However, in FM, if I enable PL tone, its deviation is correct (~0.7 kHz). I have tried three microphones---no change. Audio fed into the back of the radio for digital modes is also low, requiring me to maximize the AF drive from the PC to get 40W out of the radio in FT8.

I tried replacing IC452, but that did not fix it, and I still have the same problem.

Has anyone seen this before, or are there any suggestions?

Thank you,
John, AD5RN

If you can use a power supply 25A continuous or larger. The 7K is sensitive to voltage drops.?

Hello everyone

I have a problem with my Ic 7000 this is it, the problem is on the TX part, it usually works regularly but suddenly it happens that the power drops considerably, for example it goes from 50w to about 15 without a logic of time.
Has anyone had this problem, how was it solved?
Thanks in advance to anyone who can give me some useful information to solve this problem.

Hi Giuliano

Do you have this issue in all bands (HF/50/VHF/UHF) or not ? It’s important to know because if this trouble happens in all bands, I suppose that you are a fault in driver mosfet (PD55015).

Let us know about it.

Re: CHIRP

Very true on the chip set troubles. This 1 is FTDI and works great for HRD to connect to radio and control the rig. I already downloaded the software but it is useless without the cable from RT Systems so waiting now for postman.
