Re: 7000 SDR
开云体育Ken,Sounds like you’re being asked to provide the eye candy of a full pan adapter , which the IC7000 can’t easily provide and it’s not a SDR anyways . ? ?Best to maybe borrow one of the true SDR radios , like FlexRadio, Icom 7300 , 7610 , you could use one of the dongles, but their performance in an RF rich environment might be a real challenge. ? Stick with a much better SDR receiver connected to a good computer.. ? Hard to beat the large pan adapter of the FlexRadio for a public display connected to a 55 inch LED display, touch screen if you can swing it.? 73, Dudley WA5QPZ On May 7, 2023, at 9:50 PM, Kenneth Thompson via groups.io <kenmact@...> wrote:

Re: 7000 SDR
Some have done this with an RTL-SDR dongle tied to the IF and HDSDR to display it, like here You have so little time to make it happen, I would be looking to borrow somebody's IC-7300 or Flex Radio. Re: ci-v usb not working on w10 but works on w11
DTR/RTS are not used in CI-V as it is a "one wire" physical layer. There is no hardware flow control at the radio. I would manually set the baud rate on the radio to 9600 or 19200 rather than leave it set to Auto. The default CI-V address should be 0x70. It would be interesting to see what CI-C Scout or CI-V Test tell you. Hi Adam,
So the Win10 is a different machine right?
Go into Device Manager and note the COM port number in Win 11.
Then do the same on the Win10 machine.
I'll bet on Win10 that Windows gave the port a different number.
A serial device com number is assigned randomly so probably different on 2 different machines.

Just received the new ci-v/usb FTDI interface for the? Icom IC-7000 and works fine on Windows 11.?
Can't get it to communicate with the radio on Windows 10. Serial port ids as FTDI. Drivers updated, protocol set to 19.2k, 8n1 same as setup on Window 11 PC.? Anyone experience the same problem? |
ci-v/usb interface not working on W10 but ok on W11
Just purchased another ci-v/usb interface for my Laptop running Windows 10 but can't get it connect to Icom IC-7000. Works fine on the desktop PC running Windows 11.?
This interface uses the FTDI chip so shouldn't be a problem but I can't get it to communicate.? - Device Manager identifies as FTDI - radio and pc protocols are identical, 19.2K, 8N1. -- there are no port conflicts? -- is there something I'm missing. Adam ve3fp |

Lost modulation (audio) on FT8
Perhaps this may be related to a prevous thread (or maybe not).
I have recently been migrating to Lnux OS and been very pleased to find WJTX and FLDIGI for Linux. At first, both programs seemed to work quite nicely with my IC7000 and SignaLink. Settings are PTT = VOX and Radio = none. Same setp also worked nicely (and continues to do so) with my Elecraft K3. However, now I have a problem with IC7000, but not with K3 -- so I think it has to be something on Radio. WJTX and FLDIGI look like they are working OK -- FT8? waterfall and callsign signals are decoded OK. When I hit "tune" button, SignaLink and rig think they are energized (red TX lights go on on both SignaLink and IC7000), but no modulation. There is a short blip on ALC and then zero. I have checked mic gain, power and VOX and they seem OK. Only intervening event I can recall was one episode on 6 meter SSB selected from mic keys. FT8 and PSK31 frequencies on IC7000? are from memories. As mentioned, switching to K3 with same SignaLink and program/computer works fine. Is there some change in IC7000 settings that would still exert VOX (PTT) but lose modulation? TNX for help and toleration of what must be a dumb mistake.

Re: CW filter passband width
Thanks to all that responded. I've left the 500 and 250 hz filters as is but reprogramed the 1,300hz filter that I never use on CW to 100hz.? I've used 100 and 50hz on the K3 and find these narrow filters to be very useful in heavy QRN, QRM, and QSB situations, especially on 80 and 160m. 73, Pete? K2UPD |
Re: No audio, no transmit after programming IC-7000
With Icom radios?? I have seen a statement from Yaesu that CHIRP will invalidate their warranty.? CHIRP also warns about many of the Chinese radios because they update their firmware without notice.? It is bad programming practice to allow some sequence of instructions to actually destroy your radio.? The admission from Yaesu seems embarrassing.? I haven't seen an issue with Icom that couldn't be solved with a full reset.

Re: CW filter passband width
Charles VA7CPC Cohen
While you _can_ reduce the CW filter width to 50 Hz, you'll find that it's probably too narrow to be of practical use. Because of the on/off transitions, a CW signal _carrying information_ (that is, with dits?and dahs) has a non-zero bandwidth.? Since the leading and trailing edges of each transition are quite important to human ears, that bandwidth is around 100 Hz.?? You'll find out, for yourself, what's the minimum bandwidth you can actually use. .? ? Charles / va7cpc |

Re: No audio, no transmit after programming IC-7000
No I have not updated the radio.? It did work before the reprogramming.? I checked to see if it was working and to see if one of the "new" repeaters was programmed in.? It was not so I added it to the file and uploaded.? I had previously downloaded from the radio, added short list of repeaters then uploaded, several years before.? I have not had any problems like this with software from R T Systems or Chirp or several other sources.? The hard reset I did was - hold the band up and down buttons in and power up the radio.? Any thing else I can try?? It doesn't appear to receive on any band or any mode.
