Re: Battery charging...
Nope--mine works fine. Battery Tender charger. The charger will go into float when the rig is trickle charging, however, if you set the rig to use its higher charge rate then the charger will remain

Can you elaborate on your tape measure dipole? I've had that thought myself -- variable length, and already accurately measured! Any photos? -- Gerry Wheeler KG4NBB Naples, FL N26.28 W081.76

Battery charging...
No, nothing to do with solar cells! I have a 7AH Yuasa SLA battery and a three-stage AC charger for it. It all works fine, and will be part of my HF backpack when the UK authorities give us no-coders

Re: Anyone Besides Yaesu Replace Finals?
Hi Mike, I agree with what your saying but, do you think owners of other model radios are not capable of "user-error" I have not heard of any other radio (Yaesu or otherwise) with this sort of

Re: Power shuts off during transmit
Hello, Sounds like your problem is that the power supply is not putting out enough current to operate the radio at the two higher power settings. You stated that it is a "3w" power supply but I assume

Re: [ Power shuts off during transmit]
Actually, my first guess is that the power supply or battery voltage is falling below the power down threshold (around 8 volts - I forget the exact number). If you select the PSU voltage display

Power shuts off during transmit
I have an interesting problem with my 817 where it shuts off when I try to transmitt on 2 meters. At first I thought it was just the low power of the batteries but it still does it when I hook it up

Re: Post mod problem
The Green LED is lit. IU'm not transmitting either. Apparently I touched the cable with the soldering iron. I'm in the process of shortening the cable. I'll try that until I can get one from Yaesu.

Re: Power shuts off during transmit??
Sounds like a low voltage during transmit problem. A 3 watt power supply will charge the batteries, if it puts out 13.8 volts, and the radio is OFF during charge, but will not supply adequate AMPERAGE
