Re: Using ACC jsck to power tuner? - current limited
According to the Cct Diagram there is a 10 ohm resistor in Series
with the DC out. So if you draw 100mA there will be a 1 volt drop.
Running on Int Batteries that could be a problem.

Yes, but have you tried it on battery power? I just connected the
Z11 I got at Dayton and I find that the Z11 won't tune with something
less than 10 Volts on the FT-817 batteries. Tunes

Re: Homebrew HF Antenna
Stephanie,
I am interested in your antenna. Is that the original K-40 antenna?
Doesn't that come with a trunk mount?
I may be thinking of a different antenna. Please send me model numbers

Homebrew HF Antenna
I recently attended Dayton and bought the antenna bracket for the MP-1. I
had purchased a K-40 whip antenna with a tunable stinger for 10
meters......I stuck a longer stinger in it last night, tuned

There should be no problem as long as you note that the voltage at
the ACC jack is always on regardless of whether or not the radio is
on or off, and that the voltage present reflects

Using ACC jsck to power tuner?
Is anyone using the 13.8v output from the ACC Jack to power a tuner,
specifically the LDG Z-11? Is there any reason why that can't be done?

UK SMPS
Anyone used a Maplin switched mode adapter (part QP07H) or any small SMPS
available in the UK to power their 817? If so, details please.

Re: Best Post-Dayton Price for the FT-817
"Dayton" deals only. HRO says nope, see our internet price. An email to the order desk got a response "...that's below our cost...". AES replied that all deals ended on Sunday. Hamcom in Arlington

Yes, the tuner needs to be grounded. SGC recommends a counterpoise wire longer than the antenna.

12VDC-120VAC inverters
Usually when you turn on an inverter you will hear a little noise or hum.
I have a battery with and inverter attached.
Mine has a fan.
Anyway if it makes a sound it has to be using electricity.
