Advice on selling
I plan to sell my FT-817ND in the near future as I'm not using it enough to justify keeping it.
It has all the original accessories including the YF-122C and YF-122S Collins mechanical filters. I

I cannot turn off repeater shift mode on ten meters while in usb mode
Hi guys:
I have a question about my ft817.
Yesterday, I was on 28336 on ten meter usb mode.
When I attempted to answer a buddy, and I key up the mic,
The frequency would shift upwards to transmit

Re: Power bank questions
Ron,
I second your thoughts about butane powered soldering sets, especially Weller. Have used one for years in my travel and repair kits.

Yep. You'd be amazed (if that's the right word) at how bad a
modified sine wave inverter is. I had a XPower 1kw unit in my
initial semi-off-grid solar system (only because it had been given

Re: Power bank questions
I'd do it the opposite way. Have a 12vdc 817 battery with a 12v to usb
adapter. There are converters from 12 to 5 volts or an aux power (cigarette
lighter plug) to usb.

Re: Power bank questions
You'd probably be very surprised and disappointed if you look at a modified sine waveform. It's just a series of square top pulses alternating positive and negative. Same peak voltage as a sine wave

Re: Power bank questions
Hi folks,
We had out doubts when other hams began espousing use of these battery banks, so we purchased a few and did some tests along with some well-known batteries to see how they stacked up.? We

" I have some good 6000 AHr units that put out 12V and USB (12000 AHr for USB), but have 3 Amp output limits. "
You may want to check your units, LOL - got a good laugh reading about 12,000 Amp Hour

Greg,
I agree we must always look at the AHr rating of the battery when getting one of these units, nothing new.? Even for 12V batteries for our rigs we need to check these ratings.? But the

My caution is to not confuse watts with watt-hours. Getting a 300w
unit only tells you the maximum instantaneous AC power that the unit
will deliver, but provides no

Greg,
Obviously one would not get one of these power packs to run like a refrig or heater.? I got a 300W unit to run my soldering gun for events like putting together Field Day.? Works great.
