Re: Fw: MP-1
(I assume you mean "input" into the antenna.) This would agree with what
I've seen since putting a wattmeter/swr meter in line -- highest tx output
often does not occur at lowest swr.

I too get the "not a member" denial when trying to access the files-- as
noted by Dave below, seems puzzling given that I get the list messages.
Anyone got any solutions or work-arounds? am I doing

I keep half an eye on the alternative power scene, and my

Re: 500 Hz filter, swap maybe?
Doug,
I have several 500hz Collins filters for sale. I built these filters identical to the ones supplied by Yaesu, you can't tell them a part. $110 CONUS ppd

500 Hz filter, swap maybe?
I find that I have extra CW filters for the IC-706 (and maybe other
ICOM's), a 250Hz FL-101 and a 500Hz FL-100. Since I desire a 500 Hz
filter for my new FT-817, I hope I can arrange a swap for one

Re: SWR Meter. What does it display?
Two points to add here, hopefully useful to some.
If the rig sees _too much_ swr, it will display a warning that says
something like "hi swr" and will cut off tx entirely. Below that, even
though it

Re: Maha Charger
Not sure whether this came across clearly in my earlier post, but the thing
that caught me off guard was that the inverter itself, with *no* load
applied, flattened the battery. This one apparently

Re: Maha Charger
It's also probably time for a new battery. You only get two or three
total discharges on a car battery before it's pretty worthless.

Re: Charge Current output of internal charger
Hi Greg,
You might give the FAQ a quick read on this subject. In short, the
charger puts out about 190 mA w/ 13.8 V input and near 0 at 12 V. The
trickle charge is a bit less than half of that

rcv aboe 154 MHZ
Not sure first message got thru.
Is there any way to open up the FT-817's receive above 154 Mhz? I
want to be able to listen to fire calls in my area.

receive mod above 154 mhz
I would like to be able to listen to fire dept. calls in my area, but
some freqs they use are above 154 Mhz. Is there a mod to open up the
VHF receive beyond 154?

Re: SWR Meter. What does it display?
If and when you have high swr, you'll see a series of
bars/lines...more bars, higher SWR. I am certain it is not calibrated
to SWR value but is a good quality measure.
You of course won't see SWR

Re: SWR Meter. What does it display?
Nothing, if you have a good match. Otherwise you should see some
bars, just like the S-meter, though without the numeric indication.
