Re: I cannot turn off repeater shift mode on ten meters while in usb mode
开云体育Hi there: First, I have tried on other bands and do not get the split; it is only on ten meters. Second on ten meters whether cw or phone, it moves up by nearly 9 khz. Again, on other bands, whether cw or phone, it stays on same frequency. ? ? ? From: [email protected] <[email protected]> On Behalf Of Eric van de Weyer

That doesn’t sound like a repeater shift problem as repeater shift is only operational on FM. ? The shift is only 8.5 kHz so it may, in fact be that the radio is in split mode. Try changing your receive frequency to, say 28.340 and then see what the transmit frequency does when you transmit. ? Also, see if you get the same sort of result on other bands. ? I have an FT857 which has a fault (which I haven’t yet fully diagnosed) whereby it transmits 13 kHz away from the receive frequency. This occurs on all bands and modes. ? Let us know the results of those tests and we can try to diagnose further. ? 73….Eric VK2VE. ? From: [email protected] <[email protected]> On Behalf Of mike mcglashon via groups.io ? Hi guys: I have a question about my ft817. Yesterday, I was on 28336 on ten meter usb mode. When I attempted to answer a buddy, and I key up the mic, The frequency would shift upwards to transmit on 283445. I looked up the menus to see if repeater shift was on, and I got the following: ? Menu Item 42 [RPT SHIFT] Function: Set the magnitude of the Repeater Shift. Available Values: 0 ~ 99.99 MHz Default: Depends on transceiver version, and the band in use. Each band’s repeater shift (HF/50/144/430 MHz) may be set independently. ? The thing is, when I enter menu 42 and turn the tuning knob to the left to try to get it to 0, then hit hold the function button to get out of the menu, The voice box I have reports nothing. Has anyone else ever encountered this problem? ? Please advise as you like. ? Mike M. ? Mike mcglashon AD9CA Email: Michael.mcglashon@... Ph: 618 783 9331 ? ?

Re: Advice on selling
I would suggest putting the rig up for a fair price which includes the filters in the sale. Likely someone will be very excited to purchase the rig with those filters.
?
If someone wanted to buy the rig and wasn't interested in the filters then you could sell it to them at a reduced price and remove the filters to sell separately.
?
If I didn't already have an 817 and hadn't modded with the SotaBeams chip I would jump at the chance to buy your rig with the filters installed. |

Re: Advice on selling
It may make it easier to sell and to get a bit more for it. What would you do with them if you pulled them out??? Sell them? Use them? Mike WA1MAD On Sun, Mar 16, 2025, 1:55?PM Martin HB3YDM via <hb3ydm=[email protected]> wrote:

Re: Advice on selling
For a CW filter one can get as much as $200, about half what one can get for a used FT817.? But having the filter in the rig will make it sell quicker and for more. I have the Collins 500 Hz filter in my FT817.? I do need to sell it for dont use, I have the IC705 and X6100.? But I have always liked my FT817, very good QRP rig.

Thanks Ken, that sounds a sensible approach.

I've got an FT-897 in a similar situation (full of filters, sitting idle), and my opinion is that while the filters have value outside the radio, and by selling them separately you may maximize your profit, but once the filters sell, you will possibly (probably?) have a hard time selling the FT-817nd w/o filters, as the potential buyer will most likely want the filters. ?
In other words, as a package the radio/filters may sell faster, but at a discount to selling them individually, which will likely take longer.

Good luck,

Advice on selling
I plan to sell my FT-817ND in the near future as I'm not using it enough to justify keeping it.
?
It has all the original accessories including the YF-122C and YF-122S Collins mechanical filters. I can't decide whether to include the filters in the sale or sell them separately.
?
Any advice please?

开云体育Ron,I second your thoughts about butane powered soldering sets, especially Weller. Have used one for years in my travel and repair kits.
