Re: Help please ... FT817ND not getting power from rear connector, ok on battery
Oh, yep, my misunderstanding. I hope OP will post with what they¡¯ve found. I did get one of the WindCamp Anderson Power Pole adapters for my 818. I like the solid feel and design of it versus the 3D

Re: Signalink with ldg tuner setup
Hi Pat, You don't say which ldg tuner you use but I use a z817 with my ft817nd and I plug the pc cable into the port on the tuner. The tuner then passes info to the radio. I do have to set the baud

Re: Help please ... FT817ND not getting power from rear connector, ok on battery
Having had a similar failure on my own, I would suggest checking the internal SMD fuse on the radio - I killed mine, and had to replace the surface mount component to get the device back :-) Kindest

Re: Help please ... FT817ND not getting power from rear connector, ok on battery
This DC connector is the glass jaw of the 817. The connector failed in my 20yr old 817 so I ripped the old connector out and soldered wires in it's place going to a JST connector thru the now open

Re: Help please ... FT817ND not getting power from rear connector, ok on battery
I had the power connector on mine go dead. When I opened up the case and looked at the pc board, I saw a couple chip capacitors on the board. One had apparently shorted and burned the DC input circuit

Re: Help please ... FT817ND not getting power from rear connector, ok on battery
The DC connector is a definite weak point. There is a very thin PCB track which can fracture. Also, frequently taking the plug out and back in again can loosen the solder joints from the socket to the

I guess that a visual inspection is not enough. You have to use test equipement because not all problems can be seen with your eyes. I also had a broken connection after resoldering all worked fine
