I had the power connector on mine go dead. When I opened up the case and looked at the pc board, I saw a couple chip capacitors on the board. One had apparently shorted and burned the DC input circuit board pattern off the board. I managed to repair it. But then, I put one of those plug-to-Powerpole adaptors on. That relieved the strain on the DC jack, which was no longer as good as it was originally. It's been fine ever since.
The chip cap in question was only rated at 16 volts according to the manual.I try to use caps that are rated at least twice the expected voltage on them. 16 volt caps on a 12 volt line seems borderline to me.

The DC connector is a definite weak point. There is a very thin PCB track which can fracture. Also, frequently taking the plug out and back in again can loosen the solder joints from the socket to the PCB. I had this problem a while ago. Unless you are REALLY skilled with the iron (which I’m not!!) it’s a job for the professionals. Then when it’s been repaired, fit the rig with the type specific Power Poles. That way, you can disconnect the PPs as often as you like, as the PP connector stays permanently attached.
