For the record, Li-Fe-Po4 – IS NOT – Li-Po. Different critter completely, and a 4S Li-Fe-Po4 is safe to use with the FT-817ND, or other mobile radios that can accept 15V or less input voltages.

Hi Ted, I just checked, and yes you can power the 817 and charge the battery at the same time. Just be careful the voltage you input to charge the battery does not exceed the upper voltage limit
