Re: SOTABEAM Lazerbeam filter for the FT-817 ?
I did need a magnifier for those tiny pads. Those are the smallest points I have ever soldered to.
I hope the troubleshooting goes well.

Re: SOTABEAM Lazerbeam filter for the FT-817 ?
Yeah, I'm sure its installed right because I checked and double checked each step, so I'm going to check for bad solder joints when I get time and I suspect maybe where the tiny little cap was removed

Re: SOTABEAM Lazerbeam filter for the FT-817 ?
Rick,
As a point of reference, I did not notice a change in audio level after the install.
Maybe a good idea to pull the board again and review the installation steps with a magnifier and

The filter arrived yesterday and I installed it last night and the filter seems to be working except that it cuts down on the volume severely. I now have to turn the volume all the way up where

Tim,
If the lamp is not intended as a dimmable model than yes, it should not

Re: SOTABEAM Lazerbeam filter for the FT-817 ?
Yep, got the same info from them in an email. You would think they would mention the fact not to push it on power up in the instructions, I might remove it on mine when I get it just so there won't

Well now, that makes me even more curious - if it doesn't do anything, then why is it there ? Strange to say the least...

Rick,
The button doesn't do anything just make sure the speaker doesn't press down on it.
When you switch to CW mode you still have the choice of wide or narrow filters. If you turn off the optional

Re: SOTABEAM Lazerbeam filter for the FT-817 ?
Hi Rick,
I did the installation on my 817nd. If you have good soldering skills and follow the directions closely you should be ok.
I am pleased with the performance and I would do it again
