There is a fairly good video on YouTube right now showing it at the Tokyo ham fair. They were able to video the front and back of the radio, looks like the video captures the AMU and cooling fan unit. ?Looks to be about the same size as an IC 705.?

My guess is that it will be priced below the Icom IC-705 because there is no WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS on board. It does however have FT-101 sdr architecture on-board. The Xiegu X-6200 is a bit cheaper, but has no VHF/UHF implemented. I have made a pre-order as my FT-817 is almost 20 years old, but has never let me down.

I purchased my FT-818ND in February 2019 for 2840PLN (polish zloty). I cannot find what was the exact exchange ratio between PLN and USD, but it was about 4-4.5, so we have about $630-710, and additionally I used Yaesu 50 EUR cashback.

We’re an hour ahead of Tokyo and a day ahead of North American, so have
already seen some photos taken by attendees at the THF.

It is a SDR, similar form factor to the the IC705 i.e it resembles a remote
head that belongs to another radio.

It has a dual receiver and a large battery on the back, the battery can be
removed and a tuner clipped in it’s place, and if you need it, a fan module can
clip in where the battery was then the tuner can sit on top of the fan
unit.
?
There is a strong “brand” look to it – aspects of the FTM500, FT991A and
FTDX10 make the unit look familiar to Yaesu users.
?
I look forward to seeing it in the flesh and hearing what the new owners
have to report next year.

I’m going to go out on a limb and say it looks like it is built in the FTM-500DR chassis and will be dimensionally identical.? ?It might be fun to have a pool on dimensions and weight, especially given that as near as I can tell the depth of the radio can’t be inferred from the size of the display in the pic, as height and width can.
I won’t complain without seeing one, and as a sometimes traveling satellite guy, I’d pay too much for that feature. ?
But I’m ?guessing maybe near a couple kilos with a fan and tuner and battery, and that’s quite a bit.
