Really too many unknowns (like price) to make a decision now.

I will say that Yaesu is *obviously* 'gunning' for the IC-705, and they've got their work cut out for them.

I believe ultimately it will be a winner, maybe even initially, but for me, I'll wait and see...

Good question but hard to answer until an FTX-1F exists, we still don't even know if it will meet the specs they have claimed.? When there is one (and I may buy one just to see!), I can then compare and contrast.?

That last line is a clickable link on the page, it takes you to a page that tells of the request, reports how much has been raised so far, and allows you to provide your CC info on that page. The requester says you can contact him directly for alternative methods to donate.

Hope that helps

There is a Paypal link.

But perhaps the OP should make clear the "Donation" link says "Sponsor".? I looked for several minutes trying to find something that says donate...

Recently the members were asked if they could donate a few bucks to pay the annual fee.
?
There are 9355 members of this group, if everyone of them were to donate one (1) dollar to keep this group on the net for an annual fee of $200, this group would be on the net for 9355/200 = 46, that would be 46 years with no requests for donations and the FT-817/ND would probably have faded into amateur radio history by 2070.
?
If you have benefited in any way from this group, please, donate a couple of bucks to keep it going.

Groups.IO FT-817 Subscription for 2024-2025

Requested By: Mark Wickens M0NOM #admin

Description:

In order to preserve the FT-817 Groups.IO account as is we will need to continue our Premium Subscription of $110. This is due to the size of our current message database - it substantially exceeds the storage space provided with a free downgraded account.

I have covered the cost of the upgrade, so we are safe for 2024-2025.
Could I please ask members to make a donation towards this amount?
Any excess will roll over to next years upgrade (I didn't make a request for donations last year, for example).

I'll let you choose what you are comfortable with, I ask for no minimum.
If you would like to donate please visit the?donations page?or contact me direct if you'd like to use an alternative method.
Let's keep this group as the valuable resource I know everyone appreciates.
