Hello Ham Operators!
Did anyone yet built his own CAT Interface for the FT-817?
A circuit plan for this Interface would be appreciated!
Thank you for writing back!

Yes -
To make a CT-62 yourself (I disassembled and reverse engineered a
real CT-62 and copied it using a MAX-232 chip with N4IP on the #AMSAT
IRC a couple of months back). Yaesu use a different chip to the
MAX232 which uses lower value capacitors to keep it small so it will
fit in a 9 pin D-type case.
o On Page 5 of the FT817 manual, you'll see the pin-outs of the
8 pin mini DIN ACC port
o You only need GND, TXD, RXD and 13.8V of 8 pin mini DIN
o Wire up a 5V regulator to GND and 13.8V
o Wire up you MAX232 to the 5V regulator.
o Wire up the Caps as you would normally do so on a MAX-232
o MAX232 Pin 12 to RXD on 8 pin mini DIN
o MAX232 Pin 11 to TXD on 8 pin mini DIN
o MAX232 Pin 13 to pin 3 of DB9 female
o MAX232 Pin 14 to pin 2 of DB9 female
o Wire DB9 Pins 7 and 8 [RTS & CTS] together
o Wire DB9 Pins 6 and 4 [DSR & DTR] together
That's it!
