Re: Getting started in shaper tooling #shapertools
Thanks Imran. I'm trying to get a feel for how far out the shaper sticks if I did the tilting mount. Attached is a drawing of the CF531 which seems to show about 20" of space between the back of the

Re: Off topic - Best way to power a Japanese machine - transformer or VFD or ?
What kind of machine is it? Is it just a simple single motor with no other control electronics? If so this should straightforward with a VFD. Be careful that many VFDs do not like hot breaking the

Off topic - Best way to power a Japanese machine - transformer or VFD or ?
Hello, I am no electrical engineer, so I am looking for advice regarding the best method to power a Japanese machine that requires 200 V, 3-phase, 50 Hz power with a 2.2 kW motor. My Felder machines

Re: Getting started in shaper tooling #shapertools
Thanks Correy ¨C this is extremely helpful. For basic stuff I will look at the Freud or equivalent brazed tools. From: "[email protected]" <[email protected]> on behalf of

Re: Getting started in shaper tooling #shapertools
The CF531 has essentially the Hammer shaper, so no, it¡¯s not the same as the Felder. The picture in the E Shop shows the entirety of the kit ¨C it¡¯s simply a spindle with an ER20 collet chuck.

Re: Getting started in shaper tooling #shapertools
On my old CF731 the high speed router spindle runs at 15k. It has a different size fully and separate belt than the router spindles that run at the lower speeds. Does the CF531 high speed router

Re: IWF 2020
IWF, like so many others, is ruled by $$$. 100,000 people have died due to this bug in the US alone, and the number will likely more than double before a vaccine or reliable treatment is developed.

Re: IWF 2020
Dave, I will consider IWF (or any other large gathering) when something definitive changes on the medical side, like: an effective treatment for Covid-19 a vaccine to provide immunity to Covid-19 herd

Re: Building a closet for dust collector
Sorry, another thought. In our building project the city required us to hire a Mechanical engineer to do the HVAC design. He modeled the building itself, insulation, windows, overhead doors, etc to

Re: Building a closet for dust collector
The moving wood fibers does consume energy. The tearing/cutting creates movement and heat. The movement creates heat. In the end the fiber is moved and the movements ends up creating heat. Sent:

Re: Getting started in shaper tooling #shapertools
TJ,? the limiter heads? heads are similar to brazed tooling in regards to antikick back as the clearance is still about 1mm. Being that the body of brazed tooling is the limiter. These would be

Re: Getting started in shaper tooling #shapertools
I do not have a full combo but I thought I read that you can use the PF on saw (requires long horizontal tube), shaper and jointer. True if not, the fliptop bracket with gas strut assist is the best

Re: Getting started in shaper tooling #shapertools
I have a DC40 and an older 3 wheel comatic (1HP) feeder that are heavy with respect to the feeder and its stand.. I would estimate around 125lbs per feeder with stand. My DC40 is connected to my KF700

I appreciate that datapoint. The Felder website has no information on this. Is the ¡°F38¡± the Comatic AF38 http://www.co-matic.com/en/product/AF38-Stock-Feeder and is the ¡°F32¡± the Comatic AF32

Re: Building a closet for dust collector
For a circular saw cutting maybe5 minutes an hour, yes. For continuous duty use of things like dust collectors, vacuum hold down tables, and CNC equipment running multi-hour jobs it can get real hot

Having just mounted the long arm and a f38 power feeder back onto the saw... if they make a magnetic base... wow, it¡¯s gotta be special, because this thing is heavy. Heavy heavy like moving it on

Re: Getting started in shaper tooling #shapertools
I completely agree with Michael. I have AD741 with power drive and KF700sp in a double car garage. AD741 is fine, switch is quick and simple. I have to admit I do not use shaper as much as saw on the

And practically speaking, most of this has very little to do with calculating a simple answer for heat gain in your workshop. Get Outlook for iOS<https://aka.ms/o0ukef>
