Re: Fixing Felder X-roll short cross cut fence T-nut - AKA group buy of improved T-nut
I too will take a set for a single KF700
?
Just let me know when and where to send $$$
?
Thanks to you and David for all the effort you have put into this project. ?Sure would be nice if Felder would recognize this as an issue and provide the retrofit kit. ?I would think it would be easy for them to provide these parts for existing saws. ?Even better they should re-engineer this element of the saw so that these modifications are no longer necessary.
?
If I recall correctly, David has said he had these conversations with Felder, and he may have provided some of these parts to Felder at some point.
?
Once the orders are in, maybe that interest will prompt Felder to look at this again.

Re: OT: Teknatools USA affiliate (maker of Nova drill presses) files for CH 11 reorganization
The Powermatic 2800B uses what is called a Constantly Variable Transmission (CVT) -- (inside the 2800B, it's actually 2 separate CVTs).? I have not seen any other woodworking machinery that uses this type of transmission (usually it's geared speeds, switching pullies or VFD). ? This type of transmission is actually commonly found in hybrid cars (think Toyota Prius), but I'm sure the carmakers have engineered this much better.
?
You can see the actual transmission working here in this video at the 12 minute mark:

Re: Feedback on the sliding saw selection
Hi Stan,
?
At least you know where you want to go.?? You are kind of undecided between the 1250mm table and the 2000mm table (cutting length define the max table movement and are actually misleading and assume you will not use clamps at all).?? You are going to lose about 10" of table length when using clamps and the crosscut fence, so the 1250mm table will only give a maximum cut length of about 39".?? The longer 2000mm table will allow up for a 68" cut length with crosscut fence and clamps.? The 2000mm (6-1/2') table is really not that big, but if you must have the shortest stroke, then so be it.
?
Another reason for recommending the longer table is machine configuration.?? You are pretty much looking at either the "B3 winner" or "B3 winner comfort".?? In Felder/Hammer land, it is typically cheaper to get a machine with it's standard configuration rather than a different machine plus a bunch of options added.? So, if you really want a short 1250mm table, you'll need to get the "B3 winner" and then add the options for the 1100 outrigger, 1300 fence and "preparation for DADO" (which are actually standard equipment on "B3 winner comfort" model).
?
Then look at any other options which you think you might need (i.e. scoring blade, cast iron rip fence 800/1250, fine adjustment for rip fence).

Hello FOG, I have a brand new AD941, a RL 140 and a Nova Voyager drill press for sale. I am located in Austin, Texas. After a really long wait to get all of them I am moving and will not be able to take them with me. Since this is my first post I am not sure of what I can post.?
?
Many thanks to David for all of his excellent PDFs which were invaluable in the setup of the AD941. |
Re: OT: Teknatools USA affiliate (maker of Nova drill presses) files for CH 11 reorganization
Hi Stan,?
?
Good to know on the PM2800B. Looking at the exploded parts diagram, it looks like those drill presses use an entirely different mechanism than the 2820EVS, so whatever the issue was on the 2800 it shouldn't affect the 2820.?
?
David Davies, thank you for the reminder on the Willis machines. Far more drill than I need, but impressive looking machines nonetheless!?
?
So far the Powermatic has performed well, hopefully it will have a nice, long service life....?

Re: Adding Remote Control Switches on Felder
开云体育Hi Kevin,I assume you are asking me about my write-up of the many I shared. If so, I should be able to confirm, if you share the electrical schematic of your machine with me. You can share it here or send it privately by clicking, “Reply to Sender”, at bottom of the message. Re: Fixing Felder X-roll short cross cut fence T-nut - AKA group buy of improved T-nut
开云体育?Hello Netanel, Just wanted to clarify the parts included. The single machine option would include the reversible T-nut with built in leveling set screws? ?And when sending in the aluminum block for modification, would I leave the factory Kipp lever in place? Any chance there might be an option for a new flip stop with a single machine order? Thx, Wade On Mar 26, 2025, at 6:51 PM, netanel.belgazal via groups.io <netanel.belgazal@...> wrote:

Adding Remote Control Switches on Felder
开云体育Due to the discussion of some buying a new saw, thought I share few solutions members have come up with for adding wired and wireless control switches. Depending upon the location of control switches on your machine, this may be of interest. Re: Fixing Felder X-roll short cross cut fence T-nut - AKA group buy of improved T-nut
Thanks for ?putting this together. ?I saw that David Best's linked album shows a preliminary design and a final design. ?Am I correct in thinking that your kit will be machined per David's final design for the T-nut (machined stainless steel with two leveling screws), the bushing (machined bronze with groove for set screw), the bushing-supporting aluminum block (with two set screws) and the Kipp lever shaft (with groove for receiving set screw)? |
Re: Felder AD941 vs SCM Fs41ES
开云体育I can second Netanel on finish from Tersa. It is smooth and in raking light you can see the blade mark lines but not feel them. I go to 180 (unless need lower grit finish) and do a few swipes to remove milling marks. It does bother me that the blades nick easily. I thought I was getting nicks due to not being careful about what I plan. So plan was to get a new set and use it judiciously on final planning. Well I did that but nicked blade on first pass on glue line. A huge benefit of a Dual 51 is to be able to joint plane glueups. One can shift blades but still annoying. Tersa finish is great. The chip volume is high which may be an issue for business but as David said, it makes lighter bags. I am not sure which way I will go if there is another planer in my life. FWIW, few yrs back I read on Sawmill Creek that dummy blades are available for purchase, not recommended to use older worn blades as dummy blades and surprisingly there is a place that sharpens Tersa carbide blades. ? Yes, you can see the difference between Tersa and spiral. You can easily go from planer directly to 150-180 (my final grit when using hardwax)
with spiral I had to go down to 80-100 to remove some minor milling marks.?
?
60 gallon can handle it, it depends on how frequent you are willing to empty it. I can easily fill a 35 gallon in a single milling operation.
