Re: AD941 installing fence support bar
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýWell tech isn¡¯t quite right, the cast iron sits between #13 and #4, both spherical washers, #12 and #13 always go together on the same side. Other than that, the picture is what you want.Brian Lamb blamb11@... www.lambtoolworks.com

Re: AD941 installing fence support bar
¿ªÔÆÌåÓý? Hello FOG, A Felder Tech sent me this regarding the support bar hardware orientation install. ?A bit interesting to me. ?Didn¡¯t see this being a possible layout. ¡°Here's the schematic for your machine. ? Look at the box enclosing the parts for the AD941. ?You can see the spacer is included in your machine. ?The cast iron would go between part numbers 12 and 13. ?I don't see the large washers anywhere. ?Perhaps they are for a different machine that uses some of the same parts and they made a generic set up for a few machines to use almost the same hardware but they included all the parts for them all. ?I would follow the schematics for the AD941 machine to be sure you are correct.¡± On Jul 1, 2023, at 5:39 AM, andy.pickler@... wrote:

Re: HS 950 Edge Sander
I used to have an Oakley stroke sander with a 10' bed. Over 15' long overall. They are fantastic machines and very versatile, but I couldn't justify the real estate for the amount of use it got. I was the only one in the shop trained on one. Had to remover the veneer from a piece of MDF core sheet stock consistently. Fun test.?

What about stoke sanders in fine furniture shops there is always one.
If you are into sanding with the long belt ?they provide a nice finish fast and don¡¯t lift the grain?
In the hands of a skilled worker they are awesome .

That's a beauty Lucky! Our disc sander and spindle sander are very lackluster in comparison.

Re: HS 950 Edge Sander
On OSS, I have a friend with one of these massive edge sanders. ?Wow what a dust cloud maker but he likes being able to have long boards in contact with the sandpaper at once, especially to make a slight taper. ?I like the edge sander design that has the jointer like function where you can sand the edge of infinite long boards by pushing the board along the table and adjust the amount of removal. ?Machines of this design seem way easier to have good dust collection. ?I see that on the Kundig, Langzauner and others... example being one of the Baleigh sanders, but with the Baleigh I do not think there is a way to auto feed the wood. ?I know very little about the Baleigh. ?

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýIf you build furniture than one of these fancy edge sanders would be handy BUT if you have high quality machines and the ability to use them than they are wasted space.?I have some of these machines master 24¡±? Kalamazoo 6¡± and early PC 4¡± forget the name all old and rebuilt and modified with special igus XY tables ?pretty much metal working only. martin/campshure/co/llc Designing and building for 50 years On Jul 4, 2023, at 9:00 AM, Jason Holtz <jholtzy@...> wrote:

Re: HS 950 Edge Sander
Next time I have to pull the #2800 machine away from the wall for lubrication I will take one. I unfortunately don't have a spot for this beast to utilize both sides at once and the dust collection dictated the cast iron doors that hide the works are facing the wall.

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý
Wadkin made some wonderful machines.? Here in the US, Kindt Collins Master Sanders were the top of the chain.? They didn't make a combo machine though.? Oliver made one similar to your Wadkin.? I find I use the disk about 1000-1 to the spindle but good to have.

PK: ? I like your edge sander list! But just in case you are not acquainted with Wadkin spindle sanders, you should buy the Kundig and then complement it with a Wadkin spindle sander like the JY or JTA. My JTA is from the 1940s and is the machine in my shop that gives me the biggest smile¡ ? The solid, machined disc is 16mm thick, and weighs on the order of 70kg. It comes with three and a stand to hold the two ready for use. The machine sounds like the Starship Enterprise galivanting around the universe and takes 18 minutes to come to a complete stop after turning off. On the spindle side, the mechanism, including oscillation underneath consists of enormous solid bronze gears, and there is an oil bath with original rope wick. Dust extraction is cast into the table itself which is very cool. The bloody thing (don¡¯t mind the swearing as this baby is English!) was made to drip oil out the bottom. Both tables tilt to 45 degrees. ? Mine does not have original switchgear unfortunately, but this machine is simply glorious. I LOVE IT! ? ? Warm regards, Lucky ? From:

I have an HS950.? It is fine at the price point.? The oscillation is minimal.
Any thoughts? PK |
