Re: Short Crosscut Fence Usage on 10' Sliders
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI was just making my adjustments on that short fence last night and they have an indexing flip stop on my slider bed, which works with an adjustable screw and locking nut on the fence. ?I have mine dialed in to 90 and have removed it a couple times now to get a feel for the whole system, it¡¯s staying true for me. ?Maybe they have made sone improvements here? ? Re: Short Crosscut Fence Usage on 10' Sliders
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI use the short xcut fence often. I like that the rear of the cut is backed by the sacrificial block. I also use pneumatic clamps and solved the problem you mention by leaving an extra nut in the slider in front of the xcut securing nut. I'm considering a Profil 45 Z, and was going to skip the fence option and just use the one from my slider instead. I'm trying to keep the cost down and it's an easy way to save $450 or so. But before I do, I'm wondering if I'm missing out in some way by not using it on the slider. Does anyone here use it? If so, how, and why do you use it over the main fence and outrigger? Thanks. |

Shipping Prowess
#airtight
Many of you know but some have not had the experience.
If you own a set of Mac's Airtight Clamps then you have experienced next level packing and shipping! Damn Mac, you are an artist with shipping!? The clamps look amazing too... Felder could learn a thing or two or three from you Mac (from a lot of things) but especially on how to ship something! Hats off to you Mac! The install this weekend will be a joy! PK PKwoodworking |

Short Crosscut Fence Usage on 10' Sliders

Re: Bandsaw tension
¿ªÔÆÌåÓý
Tension depends on the saw but experiment and see what works.? 25000+ is the sweet spot on my saw but others have different opinions.? I'd start at 15K and go to 20K and then 25K if the saw can do it.? Watch that the spring doesn't bottom out and the blade
tracks consistently.? Too much tension can cause the frame to flex as the wheels turn and cause the blade to track weird.
?
The key with a meter is make sure it is loaded when the blade is slack so you get the same number each time you tension.? You will get a feel but the first few times can be deceiving.? Make sure the blade doesn't move forward and into the guard and dull the
teeth, and don't depend on the rear bearing to support the blade.? If that bearing spins it can heat the band.? Keep the band lubed to help cool it when taking a heavy cut and depending on the back bearing.? Most of the time the bearing isn't needed but that
is also dependent on tension and how fast you push the stock.? Dave

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýProbably not, as your slider will be slightly above the cast, mine doesn¡¯t but it¡¯s also a hair shorter of the height of the extrusion.?Regards, Mark On Jan 26, 2022, at 8:53 AM, wjdsignature@... wrote:

Oh sorry for the confusion Mark, I was meaning the zero clearance insert at the end of the cross cut fence. ?As you pass over the scoring blade. ?It would just create a very tiny rabbit cut into the bottom corner. ?

Re: Cross cut fence zero clearance insert

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýYes,?I use scoring, it works with the ZCI you just raise it up while its on at 90deg to cut through. If you change the angle of the blade you will want to lower it first tilt to angle then bring up. I think I just did it at 90deg and 45deg I was good but can¡¯t remember. You don¡¯t want to tilt with the blade up and it only cut at 90deg or it will potentially bind. ? Yes slightly above, maybe 1/32¡± ish, i try to get the width dead on the blade or ?slightly over but never under main blade size. I think I have the felder scoring blade 120mm and it is fine. ? Mark, If you do use a scoring blade, would you have a recommendation on which one to get? ?Is the Felder scoring blade any good? ? Thx, |

Re: Cross cut fence zero clearance insert

Thanks for the suggestions Mike. Here's a pic of the 80mm to 4" adapter on my F700Z. Not sure why I'd need an elbow. I don't see the need for a zero clearance insert on my saw because I always use the scoring. If I did design one, I wouldn't sell it for fear of liability. If you want a 90 degree off the overhead guard, those are readily available for about 10 bucks on Amazon. Mac makes sliding inserts for jigs like the pic I have attached. I would think threads in plastic wouldn't hold up very well. Bill On Tue, Jan 25, 2022 at 9:05 AM Mike <mike@...> wrote: Bill, |

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýMike, The rectangular shape of mine is not perfect either but is very close. For example, there was daylight in a corner. I cut a strip of thin packaging fabric. Made a?loop, with painters tape joining the ends. Placed?it around the rectangular saw opening and fitted the adapter. Never touched it since. ?Bill, Your parts on the Etsy page look good, so I wonder if you're interested in making other parts I'd be interested in seeing for my KF700S. 1) Zero-clearance insert for the saw blade.? 2) 4" adapter with 90 degree angle to the right for the overhead guard. 3) Insert for sliding table to hold jigs using 1/4", 5/16", and 3/8" bolts? 4) Elbow from 80mm to 4" for the shaper output (not enough room for an adapter plus a 4" elbow) The blade insert isn't as easy as making them for Delta table saws and I spent an hour making an overhead adapter, similar to what Imran did, but it leaks. If the sliding table insert is more accurate and durable than a piece of oak with a threaded insert, it could be interesting. Kind regards, Mike |

I run Lennox bandsaw blades almost exclusively. Today I installed a new Woodmater CT 1" blade and I have a Lennox Tension meter on it's way. Where can I find information on correct tension specs for Lennox Blades.
Thanks
