You have to remove the saw trunion shipping bolts.

If you don't mind secondhand books, try Abebooks.com first.? I've generally found much better pricing there than on eBay, Alibris, or Amazon, and Abebooks is often the only place to find some more obscure titles.? Also, many Abebooks sellers are outside of the U.S., which could be helpful to you.?

Looks like Gary Katz also sells all of his books and DVDs directly from his website:? ?

Great videos Jason. ?I went through a similar process with my AD751 (same vintage) in 2004 - not to install a Byrd head but to replace the bearings. ?Total PITA. ?I had a good chuckle at your comment “Why did they have to make this thing so complicated?”. ? I felt the same way. ?

I was able to get the tables to flip back further by taking off the stop bolts which gave enough clearance to get the bearing blocks for the cutterhead out. ?Photo below. ?I also discovered that the bearings would slip on if heated to 200 degrees first. ?What a pain that you had to send the Byrd head back to fit that drive belt pulley. ?But it looks like you ended up in good shape. ?Thanks for posting. ?Oh, and I like the simplicity of your old style bearing puller.

The most accurate way to ensure the machine chassis is not being twisted out of square by the leveling feet is covered in these two videos.?

The idea is to check the level of the cast iron top along the front and rear edges. ?If the two level readings agree, then the leveling feet are properly adjusted. ? If you want to invest in a level that’s accurate enough for this type of machine alignment, Brian Lamb makes a very nice unit (), or Grizzly has a version made in China ().

The problem with a K940 (which is the same chassis as my Kappa 400 xMotion) is that the four feet are at the corners, and if you have one of the four off the floor, the chassis will indeed flex enough that the cast iron table will have a slight twist. ?If you wanted to do this without using a precision level, then you’d want to use the two feet on the infeed side under the rip fence bar as two of the elements, and some kind of jack screw or block with shims midway between the two feet at the rear of the machine, get that setup level, then bring the two rear leveling feet at the back corners down until they reach the floor, then remove the temporary jack screw or block from between the two rear feet. ?That won’t be as precise as using a precision level, but will get you pretty close. ?I will DM you some additional information.

This is how I configured my leveling feet on the machine. ?I used the lower nut to adjust height - a washer is necessary here.?

Once the machine was level, I added a second washer and nut on the opposite side of the hole in the chassis, and tightened that top nut.

If your floor is has a lot of tilt - many garages are this way to create drainage toward the door - then you might want to get the longer version of the leveling foot from McMaster. ?That part number is 6111K372.

Re: Felder K940S

Levelling feet are an option. I’ve always used a couple of wood shims under a corner to make sure my chassis doesn’t rock, other than that it’s not necessary, plus, I don’t move my machine around. Some folks that are taller, prefer to put feet on the machine to get it higher, as well as level if by chance your garage floor has a lot of slope.

Re: KF700 Power Drive - setup question

Hi Mike!?

I received a KF700SP this year, and Felder had installed bolts to limit the range of the saw tilt to a narrow range like the condition you're describing. Worth a call to Felder on Monday, but I'd check the ways for the tilt and see if you can identify a bolt that was installed for shipping purposes.....?

Are you saying that the dust collector turns on, without the saw running but when you reach the two angle limits? Could be a bit of extra current draw at the limits. Seems like there is not enough headroom. Can you increase the kick on current limit on the sensor?

I do not have power drive so just guessing that a reset is needed as it might be lost and thinks the limits have been reached. Not sure how you reset it though.
