Re: Can Anyone Identify What These Parts Are?

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Ameer,?

Previous posts have correctly identified the parts,

With regards o the length stop the heads of the bolts are intended to go in the slots of the 1100mm extension table with the leg
the 1st version did indeed have trapezoidal nuts but they were to easy to lose.

The tenoning plate was originally designed to fit in some pre drilled holes in the cast iron sliding table of the BF5 machines, with the introduction of the BF6 Aluminium table it was intended to be mounted using the tee slots in the table.
With regards to mounting the tenoning plate, originally they were supplied with flat plates with M10 treads to go in the table slots and M10 cap head Allen socket screws and washers to clamp them down.
I always found that it had a tendency to creep or twist when being tightened which was frustrating.

As I recall two strips of masking tape on the underside stopped it scratching the Aluminium and reduced the amount of movement.
Ultimately I bought two additional tee block for the table and a flip stop that mounts in the F rail for the crosscut fence and had a permanent set of mounting points for it in the mid position of the table.
I'm pretty sure I also had some special bolts, most likely these were jig bolts that would have been modified to clamp It down.

Rather foolishly I parted with mine to a friend which brings us to the moral of this story, Once you have forked out for a Felder accessory, never, ever part with it, you will regret it one day.

As a favour to those on the group who may be interested could you post a drawing of the plate with the dimensions and locations of the various holes and slots as I for one intend to have one made in the near future , albeit I will do some thing about the 40lbs weight of it.

I have one of those plates too and thought it might be a tenoning plate, but I couldn't find any references to it and I couldn't figure out how to mount it to the sliding table. Ironically I just made some tenon's today so I bad a home made plate of some plywood.? Low tech, but it worked. Does someone have a photo of how to mount the big metal one?

Thanks Imran, I have located the capacitors in the main electrical compartment, they don¡¯t show any obvious signs of damage but from what I¡¯ve read they can simply fail over time so I still suspect there the most likely cause of my problems. I did a bit of boning up and a number of websites suggested a failed capacitor can cause the motor run at less than full speed.

The capacitors are labelled 1C 1 and C 2. They also show up with the same names in the circuit diagram. However in the table of parts there appears to be no item with this name, instead there is 1 Ca and 1 Cb (80 uf), which I suspect is them.

Re: Changing saws

Hi Lucky,
First I want to thank you for the help with my dust collector way back, and yes I still have a couple of issues with that.
my issues are so minor I haven't dealt with them.
I know that some here have had issues with Felder, I have not. I had my machines commissioned twice, again not their fault.California likes to turn off the power when there is a breeze. So they could not finish the commission and came back to complete at a later time at no cost to me.
I have called to have them come out again and fix the issues months ago and they said no problem, but with covid and my lack of time on the machines< i have delayed it as is so minor.
They have a list of every issue I have with every machine and to be honest half of that list has been eliminated because of the operator being me not knowing enough.
My issues:
The rip fence was not parallel to the blade and fixed that but it was late into the night as they wanted to not have to come back but we both forgot to reset the computer to the new setting.
I bought the 3rd right hand digital stop pre? David Best recommendation but it is programmed backwards and I found that it does not work with the angle compensation of the fence it sits on the shelf. I will deal with it at some point.
Lastly I have a sticky fence stop that the micro adjust does not work good, I'm sure it just needs to be taken apart and cleaned, but I don't really know how and I don't want to pull it off the fence in fear of going through resetting it. I found that I can set it easy without the micro adjustment.
Some day I will get these issues fixed as Felder is willing to come up and do it, but on the rip fence, I don't use much. I just add .05 and I am good and the sticky outrigger stop I can set that just as fast without the micro adjust.

Before I had two cabinet saws, A left hand tilt and a right hand tilt and they were good, but the Kappa blows them away. I love this saw.

And last, The screen that lets you program dado cuts so the saw adjusts automatically that I thought I would never use..? Use it all the time and have saved my settings ans so far perfect from job to job.

And to Mark, The flip stops have been fine for me no slop but I don't gang cut.

And I will say again I love this saw and the planer/jointer they are a pleasure to use.

Now if I could only get David Best to make a road trip to dial them as well as his, There would be music in the heavens. HInt, Hint, HInt.

I went through a similar process with my saw, going from cabinet saws to slider, K3 to KF700SP.? I am modifying the K3 to make it into a dedicated joinery and dado saw.? If there is an additional saw in the future, it would be one of the Japanese sliders (e.g. Tokai SFJ-1300 or similar) or Martin old iron.? A fully optioned Kappa will be so nice!? Congrats!?

Re: CF 741 no start/ slow start

Hi Murray,

Ok, with single phase you have the caps Annu mentioned. I am not aware of anything that would not run the motor at full speed other than low voltage. A less than ideal electrical connection can reduce voltage to the motor. This can be a connector not properly seated, compromised wiring, corrosion in connectors, etc.

Me being not aware does not mean that there are no other possibilities.

What you described does match an electrolytic capacitor behavior that has not seen power for a very long time. These caps have a shelf life that depends upon storage temp. A quality electrolytic capacitor will exceed it¡¯s inrush limit when power is applied after a very long time and then reform itself back to normal.

This still does not explain why the saw won¡¯t achieve full speed. If it has not improved yet i would check the caps as Annu mentioned, voltage at the motor and the belt, just in case.

The other things are stops that mount in the grooves of extension tables. They can be used for doing stopped grooves on the shaper or used as length stops. ?Yours are odd int hat there are nuts protruding from the bottom. ?

Honestly I've only run 1 board through this machine so far, and it was about 16" long x 4" wide. It was just a test to see if everything was working the way it should...? I'll report back later once I've actually done some work with it.

I did notice that the machine was very stable during that operation!!! :D

I'd love to see a photo of that laser setup!
