What Grease to use for Saw Height/Elevation Guide
K975 manual says to grease the saw height guide every 40 hrs or monthly. It
does not mention/recommend a grease type. I have grease for the shaper
spindle in the gun. I forget what it is but it was recommended here and I
got it from NAPA store. Is it okay to use for the saw height?

It¡¯s a standard motor, so any motor repair shop should be able to handle it. It does have external capacitors though, so I would have those checked as well.

Power drive option on saw
Question, how great is the full power drive option on a saw, say k700 or k900? Worth the money? I could see the benefit of dialing in an angle other than 90deg or 45deg quickly and dialing in a specific height for a dado, trench, shoulder etc. does it hold it settings over time? Assuming I have it all calibrated can it always be trusted? Or would I find myself checking it on a regular basis for accuracy??

OK, I understand better now. Does Nordfab make a 30? ell? Put a 45 and 30 together at the wall to ceiling by the DC, that¡¯s within 1? of your 106? (16? more than 90). Do a fitting close to the beam with double Y and 45¡¯s to get the horizontal run headed each direction along the beam. After that fitting you hook on a 30? ell and go down the other slope to the opposite wall, where again a 45 and 30 should get you vertical again.
You might have to run a short section of horizontal pipe across the top of your AC spiral pipe or slightly drop the pipe from following the ceiling perfectly at the centers to clear that beam. Most likely if you did the bends close to the sidewalls at 30? and dropped the run gradually along the ceiling it would just clear the I-beam, so all you would need is maybe a 3-4¡± spacer on the upper most piece of unistrut where it¡¯s close to the lights anyway.

My shop has 9 foot sidewalls and vaulted ceilings. I am going to run the Nordfab duct up on the ceiling to maximize clearance overhead.? I have 3 options as I see it:
1) order custom elbows.? slickest solution but they need to be fabricated pretty accurately as the Nordfab does not seem to have any forgiveness once clamped.
2) do flex pipe for the custom angles.? The Nordfab rigid metal flex pipe looks perfect.? I need 7" and the min radius is quite large at 50" but that's not really an issue for me.? with this approach it would fit well for sure.
3) Do spiral wire poly hose.?
Thoughts, and has anyone dealt with custom angles?? Accuracy of Nordfab custom parts?

I¡¯m sorry it was canceled. I¡¯m sure there were more reasons than those stated for the cancellation. I suspect both the attendee enrollment was way down, and the number of exhibitors was also significantly reduced. ?Add those factors to the paranoia surrounding the pandemic, and the show would likely be a big money sink hole for the promoters and many of the exhibitors. I¡¯ve little doubt they lost a lot of cash already spent on planning and reservations.?
I hope it returns in ¡®22 after a successful show in Las Vegas in ¡®21. ? I¡¯m really hoping to see the Fensterbau show in Germany when and if they bring that back. ?
Besides the amazing displays of engineering and creative solutions to so many woodworking tasks, these shows give me an opportunity to put faces on some of you. I met several of you at AWFS in Las Vegas last year and I hope to see more of you at more of these exhibitions to come.?

It was probably me not tightening the spindle rings enough and it caused the spindle¡¯s metal to get rough where the cutter was located. The ring was getting stuck there. After getting the ring off I used a demeral with a grinder to smooth the rough spot,
and the rings go on and off. ?I guess I was fortunate the rings didn¡¯t weld themselves to the spindle or cause significant other damage.?

The Nordfab custom elbow has very little flexibility during installation as far as changing the angle is concerned.? I chose this option when I ordered by ClearVue cyclone and Nordfab duct.? I ordered a custom angle elbow to connect the cyclone to the main run.? As a result, my duct is not as close to the ceiling as I'd like, but so far, it has not been a problem.? I have planned to buy the rigid flex duct from Nordfab so see if I can raise the duct up higher, but since my current set up is working fine, I procrastinated.? So, I can't comment on its performance.??
I designed my entire Nordfab ducting run using Sketchup.? I referenced Nordfab latest catalog, use the part number to search the 3D model database, pick the part, and build the run piece by piece (after I build a model of my shop/garage in Sketchup).? It is very precise.? Afterward, Sketcup generates a part list, plug it in Excel, and you have a quote bases on the catalog's prices.? I tried the design services of one of the Nordfab distributors, but gave up before I tried doing it myself.? The added benefit of this is that I now can change, extend, shrink the duct work in software before I make change in real time.
It was a little fun project.??

I built this back in maybe 1997, so it was pre-Thein. I¡¯m sure I could improve on it, but it¡¯s one of those things that you¡¯ll always plan to get around to and rarely do.

Interesting on the garbage can separator I thought it might be a Thein design at first look. Used the Thein design on Shopvacs for good separation years ago. The filter was kept clean vacuuming drywall dust.?

I built the garbage can separator for the drum sander. I welded a rolled flange into the lid, added a cross beam and center bolt sticking down to attach a Cleanstream Hepa filter. Shortened a 5 gallon plastic bucket and pop riveted it to the lid to surround
the filter and create a bit of cyclonic effect and protect the filter from a direct stream of dust. Added the plumbing fitting off to the side to get the cyclone action and it works really well.?
I can run the sander and get through two filter cleanings before the can gets about 1/2 full of powder, then I have to dump it all and start over. Previously this all went into my Oneida 1.5hp cyclone, it's an early model that has the internal filter and it's
a royal pain to clean. So by using this separator, none of the sanding dust ever makes it to that filter.

Agree with Brian G on his points about rolling offsets - I have employed them with my Nordfab kit and they are a bit shorter and a good bit more efficient in terms of loss versus sticking to strictly orthogonal?layouts.
Brian L, I love the garbage can separator, it must be the best dust collection bodge I have yet to see. It looks low- loss, suction will keep the lid on tight -- how does it do at separation effectiveness, e.g., what % does it collect? This looks very
good for keeping fine dust from the far end where I'm thinking of adding the compression thingy to convert planar shavings into fuel pellets.

Joe, without seeing a potential layout it's extremely hard to offer advice but in my delusional mind and see a solution that only relies on ready made pieces using tees and large radius elbows. No flex or custom made elbows necessary.
