I found this couple of yrs ago at Scott and Seargent when I was selling my CMT dado. My version (run of the mill dado) had been discontinued and replaced with this version. I don¡¯t recall a price of $120 though. That is quite a deal.

The CMT dado I had, worked well and left a flat bottom but I could see few lines left by the individual blades. However, I could not feel any ridges. I posted some pics here.

Looks like it is a great alternative to get the dado capability on the slider. Basically, it can cut dado between 6mm to 20mm. It covers the range of Felder two dado cutters. It is only $120, already sold out.

Of course, you need to have the 30 mm arbor and 2 pin holes bored.

Re: 40 mm rebate spindle cutter flush mount - Australia

Chris I have several Whitehill cutter blocks (and profiles). I get anything that I want from Whitehill faster than I can get an inferior CMT knife locally. (I am in Queensland). ?The Whitehill steel is superior to garden variety 40mm universal knives.?

JB,

If you do a lot of wide solid wood edge banding, Lamello Cantex is the #1 solution.

I use OF1400 with Freud 1-1/4" diameter 1/2" shank dish carving router bit on the ultimate router base to trim wide solid wood edge banding. It works very well because the router rests on the stock, but the downside is no dust collection, it is a mess.

Here below 20mm wide hard maple edging, I removed around 2.5 - 3 mm thick material in one pass, perfect result.

The OF1010 w/ the edging plate does work for wider solid wood edging, but it is difficult to use. Aside from being awkward, w/ can result in an uneven cut, I get tear out. I am using a fancy spiral compression bit, but onerous woods like Doug Fir present quite a challenge. Just yesterday I had to saw off the edging and start over.

I usually glue on 1/4" strips and then fit from there. Around 1/8 is ideal for not telegraphing.?

Re: 40 mm rebate spindle cutter flush mount - Australia

Hi Mac, could you recommend a good rebate cutter with steel body/ reversible knife/ side curf cutters etc?
Would love a link to what you recommend.?

Sounds like a dedicated rebate cutter maybe better then a multifunctional cutter head that does passover rebating.?

I can see myself using the spindle 90% of the time for rebates.

As I said before, I will be getting a kf700sp- single phase.
30mm bore on spindle.

?I did the install myself and had an electrician review my work.? Installation is not difficult especially?if you have space in your breaker panel to run the new circuit.

Re: Lamello Cantex for sale $2000

I have the OF1010 with the edging plate. I have to say it is awkward to use because of the weight of the router. I think MFK700 is a better choice to trim edge banding.

You can modify the 0 degree horizontal base to accept the 25mm length router bit.?

Another option is the FastCap little ripper, it can also trim curved edging, that is a plus that MFK700 cannot do.

This is the way I'm going to flush trim these types of boards in the future.

Michael - I looked at the Virutex Electronic Tiltable Trimmer FR292R.? It looks like it supports up to a 20mm straight bit (0.78") and it's cheaper!? If I end up doing edge banding, this might be the tool.? The hand planes may risk pulling off any super thin edge banding, but at that point you just want to use a razor cutter, lol.
