ECU for 1993 Eurovan (manual trans)

I was able to buy an ECU from a 1993 Eurovan (manual trans) recently. I didn't know the EV was manual, and as I understand / compared, the ECU is different from my auto trans 1993 EV ECU. Anybody with a manual in San Diego area that needs one? I want to get my money and time back. Also, I have VCDS, and I'm wondering if I were to hook it up to mine... just to get a scan to validate it responds properly... I was thinking I should disconnect my TCM first though. Or does anybody have any thoughts on how to validate the ECU?

Can anybody confirm that this is the Intake Air Pre-Heater Hose? It is behind the engine and close the the exhaust manufold. I was inspecting, and I noticed that it appears to have a hole/rip in it. I'm not sure if this would have a real impact on performance, but guessing any holes in hoses are bad. But what would be the impact of this? I live in San Diego... so not sure that the pre-heating matters... but dirty air would be bad. I can't really tell about how to connect a new one. Looks like it just slides on the engine side. The air filter side is hidden, and I can't tell how it would attach. Any tips?

Eurovan 1995

Working on the air conditioner on my 1995 Eurovan. I discovered that I wasn’t getting adequate flow from my air conditioner. The air was very low.. taking off the panels below the dashboard I discovered that the blender door for heat is mechanically controlled, but the blender door for the air conditioner is vacuum controlled. I am trying to determine two things ……Where does the vacuum line come through the firewall from the engine to the dashboard? I can’t find it. And secondly, how does one test if the vacuum system is sealed and working? Any help would be appreciated thank you Domokos

Replaced distributor - now hesitates when starting then stalls

I replaced my 1993 distributor. I took care to mark the bolt locations. I put the wires back to the same spots. When I start, it hesitates and then it stalls. Starting my research now. Figure I'd post while I'm searching.

I had a small, very short fire in my van, due to a gas leak, and a spark from a bad wire. With the help of people on this site, I’ve been able to make the repairs. however, I still have one problem. It appears one of the vacuum lines melted and I can’t find where it’s supposed to go. If anyone has this version of eurovan, r. R five cylinder, please take a look at the pictures. Perhaps you can tell me where the vacuum line is supposed to go thanks again in advance..Domokos

I am stuck in Reno for the night I have 177000 miles and the scan gage usuals at 179 went to 224 and would no come down There is a small leak somewhere but can’t tell if this cause of overheating I will check the auto trans fluid tomorrow and run a scan check using my laptop and the VCDS light program Any ? suggestions Bernard

Wire for alternator

Trying to get the wire unplugged from the alternator but I can barely reach my hand up there. What’s the secret to getting that off in the cramped space? If anyone has a picture of it so I can even see what type of connector it is I would appreciate it. Thanks, Bryan

Is it possible to swap clusters? My 1999 EVC gauge cluster analog instruments are inoperable. The digital display for the odometer and different notification lights such as low fuel still operate. I've been looking across the internet to try and find information on the process of swapping clusters. Don't anticipate being able to find a new cluster so will need to salvage a cluster from another van. Would doing a swap require a trip to the dealership for recoding? Is it even possible to successfully swap clusters? Hoping this amazing group can help. Thank you all in advance for helping this long-time lurker and first time poster.

2002 Weekender Heater Core Issue- Maybe

Read thru most heater core posts, but have odd situation- 2002 Weekender- when I turn on the heat control, I get a definite antifreeze smell and the inside of the windshield fogs up I don't see any leakage trails inside the vehicle or under the hood. Also don't see any reduction in the antifreeze level. Any thoughts on this? Misting when heat is on? Heater core or control assembly? Any thoughts appreciated. Also any reccommendations on Eurovan repair folks in Denver-Boulder, CO area? Thanks, Jim Marski Pine, CO

While I was replacing my spark plug wires, I found that some small diameter tubes were broken. I have enclosed 2 pictures. Does anyone know what the function of these tubes are? Thank you Domokos

This has been annoying me for a while on my 2002 Eurovan Weekender. There is a rhythmic ticking noise coming from my Hazard switch. It repeats about 3x faster than the turn signal or the emergency flasher. It sounds just like the turn signals, but faster. It seems to go away when the turn signal or the emergency flasher is activated. There is no current at the blub socket when this is happening. I pulled the flasher relay and found the alternating current on the black/white/green (sw/ws/gn) wire , corner wire on the connector. I put in a new flasher relay and it ticks also I looked at the Ebahn wiring diagrams, pg 1/11 (Emergency Flasher, turn switch relay) I have never learned to read these diagrams. On this diagram, whe sw/ws/gn wire comes down from the large gray block at the top of the page. What is H2/8? How would a intermittent current get in this wire? What does the sw/ws/gn wire conenct to under the dash? --Stephen

Is the engine in the 1997 EVC the same as the 1997 Rialta ? I need an engine harness for my EVC and the only one I've found is from a '97 Rialta. and I was told this wouldn't work. Anyone confirm that? Anyone know where I can find one? I've tried all the usual places: Samba, ebay, Europian and domestic used VW parts. Thanks, Elden '97 EVC 108K mi

That Eurovan Service Training Manual I mentioned awhile ago has been scanned and uploaded to /g/eurovanupdate/files/VW%20Eurovan%20Service%20Training%20Manual%20%201995.pdf (I'm not sure if the system sends out any notice or not.) I note that it's missing two pages which are listed in the Table of Contents as being about the Auxiliary Heater (Canada only). I double-checked - the copy I have does not have these pages.

Leisure battery not charging from shore power

95 EVC. My leisure battery is not charging while on shore power. I get a good voltage to the leisure battery leads when the engine is running. I am getting power to the 110v outlets when on shore power. Can anyone please suggest what the problem might be and how to solve it? Many thanks in advance.
