95 EV tires
Jon
I went and replaced the G64's with the same thing. Nobody really
convinced me of any real benefit in trying another tire. I was after a taller one but didn't see any suitable that would fit. The ride is MUCH improved. The deterioration of handling is such an incideous thing as tires slowly get clapped out. I had neglected them to the point of not watching inflation and probably cost myself 10 to 15 thousand miles of premature outter tread wear. Will monitor them much more closely in future. thanks for all the tire posts though!! |
Re: Window Screens/2000 MV
Ron Bowman
I have front window screen sets that use snaps and velcro.yet. Accessories for Bus, Vanagon and EuroVanHi Steve, The sliding door screen you sold me worked out great once I relocated the snaps to match the Winnie interior. Now I'm looking for some screens for my front windows, and the ones you're selling sound like they may be just the ticket. Price is much better than the Winnebago offering too. Only thing is, I'd like to avoid drilling any more holes in my van if that's possible. Do you think these screens can be secured without doing that? Please post them on your site soon so I can get a look at them. Thanks, Ron '97 EVC |

It does make interesting reading. Also, if you do not have one, I would highly recommend the service manual written by Winnebago. It is somewhere around $20 or $25 and gives complete service information on all of the Winnebago installed equipment. John Suemccowan@... wrote: Thank you so much for the offer. How to enter code for stock radio?
Scott Windsor
How do I enter the code for getting the stock radio out of the "SAFE"
mode. I bought my EV used and I have the owners manual but did not receive the manual for the stock radio tape player. My EV is a 93 and I have the code. Just need the proper sequence for entering it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Scott |

The only way the leak would have contributed to the clutches failure would be if the leak got on the clutch disk causing it to slip, heat up and wear. BTW which dealer were you working with. I have all of my service work done at Tynan's. Paul (can't recall his last name) has been a VW mechanic for something like 35 years and is well trained on the EV's (both the Volkswagen and the Winnibago pieces). Re: Window Screens/2000 MV
James H. McCarthy
I made my own screens for my EVC. Bought netting, draped it over the open
door-letting it hang both inside and outside-set up common pins to mark where I would sew, cut off the excess netting and sewed. It is basically a pouch, like a tea caddy, that slips over the top of the door. I added tiny magnets on the outside bottom to keep it tight against the outside of the door. Only mistake I made was (in the first one) not shaping it so that it stayed away from the door latch; shutting the door put holes into the first one. Cost @ $4, plus labor. Re: Project: Adding an AC unit to a 93 MVWKR
Donald Gibbons
If you don't have AC now you would be saving yourself lots of
development time by finding in a junk yard the blower/evap housing that goes under the dash. This would give you the mounting and drain and blower. This is critical since with an existing heater only blower housing there is not much room for extra stuff under there. Now if you already have AC a slick way to go would be to find a compressor that will run on R134a (I know, tricky) and plumb it into the existing refridg lines, maybe with a manual valve? Or maybe using the parts from an EV with rear AC? This way you would not have to mess with anything other then the compressor issues. |

Sliding Door Locking Problem
Apologies if this solution has been posted before-I haven't been reading this thread.
The problem with the lock not functioning on the sliding door on my van was due to the three metallic springloaded pins that make contact when the door closes. The problem the first time was corrosion on the pins. I cleaned the tips and the metal pads they connect with on the doorframe with a dremel mototool to get them bright again. This worked for over a year. Now the problem came back-this time due to the lower pin sticking. It gets pressed in when the door closes, and then doesn't come back all the way out, causing an intermittent contact. The solution here was spraying WD-40 into the pin assembly. There is also a spray on the market specifically for lubricating electrical contacts. Better would be to remove the whole pin assembly and really clean it out, but I haven't done that yet. |
Re: Camping in WA with Dogs
I agree, the Dungeness Spit is a great and interesting hike. You can
visit the lighthouse, if you make it to the end. BUT, dogs are NOT allowed on the spit, unfortunately. I heard this is because people used to take dogs out there and abandon them. This led to a population of strays inhabiting the spit, thus the change in rules. It's too bad, because a dog would love this hike. |
