Tomorrow's the I'd say it's official....the move is over. It began 68 days ago when we first saw the house in the paper and I took a quick look ("Kathy, I'll watch Millie; you GOTTA go check out this house!") and ends when the last box of car parts comes out of the garage tomorrow morning. There's still some administrative details to tend to, but everything we own will hgve been moved. We've moved. The EV did the lion's share of the work, including towing my Scirocco via a homemade towbar that only fits the Scirocco; the NHTSA would not approve, but it's fine...really, officer. The only technical problem I had was that no one makes a 1 3/4" hitchball anymore. One RV guy told me "I've been in this business 40 years son and I ain't seen one of those since 1975." Oh yeah pops? My motorcycle trailer IS from 1975 and I can't find the old ball! It used to be on the ledge above the washer/dryer, but that was 1988 in San Jose. After spending a ridiculous amount of time at my rather well-stocked neighborhood hardware store, I finally made a pseudo-ball out of nuts, bolts and assorted washers. Worked fine. I did rent a U-haul open trailer today (naturally, the day we got almost 2" of rain) to move some big stuff....a BMW engine, a table saw, the roll-away tool boxes, a 1980 vintage smog testing station that serves NO useful purpose on this planet but I hate to throw anything away....and had to back the 8" wide trailer down the 8' 6" wide driveway six times. Six. The EV took a few hits. I dented the gas cap cover when cutting something a LITTLE too close, and I cracked the driver's side mirror housing (a very small crack, and the mirror otherwise works fine) when I clipped the wall while backing down the narrow drive. Messed up a wheel cover a little bit too (should have popped them all off, but no matter next spring the Audi alloys get mounted). For two months the EV's seats have been out of the van and the kids have been bouncing around sans seatbelts. They had a great time, but that's over too. Otherwise, we are off to Nevada Monday via Sacramento (3 feet of snow falling on Donner Pass tonight, so who knows if we'll ever get out of California) for Christmas with Kathy's family and when we return the van gets THOROUGHLY cleaned and put back together. Home sweet home. Mike To unsubscribe from this group, send a message to mailto:ev_update-unsubscribe@... Your use of Yahoo! Groups is subject to the Yahoo! Terms of Service <> . |

I use it on my bicycles all the while...the screws and bolts stay tight while riding yet it takes only a bit more torque to get them loose with a wrench to remove fully. There is also a Loctite that is designed to be permanent. Each of the products is labeled adequately in order to tell the difference. I hope to follow this guide to fix my fuel guage. However, only this
week my Tachometer and Transmission Drive Selector went out as well. The dealer indicates probably needs a new printed circuit board. Has anyone had this problem? Any suggestions? More soldering? A fuse? A relay? Thanks in advance. Re: Anyone know about having a vehicle shipped cross-country (NY to UT)?
paulj334 <[email protected]>
If you look in the Yellow Pages under Auto Transport you'll find some
companies. I shipped my Eurovan from Winnipeg to Vancouver this fall (it was much cheaper to drive up from Seattle to pick it up rather than have it cross the border on its own). I found that drive-aways were much more expensive, and that the costs for shipping varied widely (50%) from company to company, so it pays to shop around. The best deal I found in Canada was KeeWest--not only the least expensive (at CDN $650) but also the fastest service. Good luck! ::Paul --- In ev_update@..., "Thomas Isom <thomas_isom@y...>" <thomas_isom@y...> wrote: OK, here's now I can relate this post to Eurovans: I bought a 1993EV GL 5-sp. a couple of months ago. Wanted: under engine cover, '93 EV
Ross <[email protected]>
Hi,
I just bought a '93 Eurovan and I'm trying to get it in shape. It is missing the metal pan that bolts on under the engine. The dealer is charging a lot more than I want to pay. Does anyone here have an extra/ is parting out a van/ or knows where to get one used? Thanks a bunch. Ross Murray |

there's a program called "Pagesucker" () that allows you to download an entire website (to a depth you can specify: 1, 2, 3,...infinite) so you can save stuff like the fuel/temp gauge fix on your harddrive and never worry if it goes offline one day. All formatting/layout is preserved. It's pretty slick. It works really well for sites that have just a few levels and have relatively ordinary html (eg, without re-directs and pop-ups). IOW, it works really well for the sort of things we often need on this list ("how-to's" and "fixit" pages, "pictures of my trip to Utah," favorite port-o-potties, spy photos of Bill Armstrong driving in reverse, etc.).
