2000 Eurovan PCV/breather options #evcrepair
The diaphragm inside my 2000 EVC's PCV/breather is warped and leaking oil and the part is NLA. Anybody have one they are willing to sell or have advice on how to get around this issue. -John

Re: Front pads & rotors replaced- spongy weak brakes in 97 evc #evcrepair
From my experience spongy feel is often air compressing in the hydraulic system.. Bleed and refresh the fluid.

Noel, Sam and mac m, Thank all of you very much for your guidance and suggestions.? Mac m, Thank You for your photos, they were very helpful. I removed the vent cover and vacuumed the vent with my

Re: Front pads & rotors replaced- spongy weak brakes in 97 evc #evcrepair
Wigen- No codes, just the feel of "sponge" instead of solid hydraulic system as it was before they installed the new front pads and rotors.

Re: Front pads & rotors replaced- spongy weak brakes in 97 evc #evcrepair
Peter Have you checked the ABS codes with a vw code checker for ABS ? If you pump brake peddle and hold down does it make a difference ?

Re: Front pads & rotors replaced- spongy weak brakes in 97 evc #evcrepair
Thanks for feedback Phil B re Europarts pads. Good to know. The whole "it's the pads " doesn't make sense- if it was the pads, why did performance improve (somewhat) after yesterdays re-bleed? I

Re: Front pads & rotors replaced- spongy weak brakes in 97 evc #evcrepair
Hi everyone- Vanpira remains in the shop- turns out they bled 2 cups fluid right rear but then "didn't keep track of the other calipers" as the proceeded. Brakes improved somewhat but pedal still way

Pads not your problem. Are there codes lodged ?

Re: Front pads & rotors replaced- spongy weak brakes in 97 evc #evcrepair
Peter ive used semi metallic pads from EuropartsSD (and others) before, never had an issue also had many vehicle and always done my own brakes. I¡¯m not an expert, but I never heard of spongey issues

Re: Front pads & rotors replaced- spongy weak brakes in 97 evc #evcrepair
Thanks everyone for ideas so far- Shop re=bled with pressure bleeder & used more volume of fluid this time. Finally able to lock up brakes briefly in panic stop mode, but pedal is still wayyyy

Re: Front pads & rotors replaced- spongy weak brakes in 97 evc #evcrepair
Daniel- Not hearing any hissing noises as described in some of the videos, but booster will be on my suspect list if this morning's high-volume bleed does not solve it. Also have seen some references

Re: Front pads & rotors replaced- spongy weak brakes in 97 evc #evcrepair
Brake booster! That¡¯s it! Mine is ¡®95. You can¡¯t just bleed the brakes if you have one, you have to do something else or brakes will be spongy/not be able to do emergency stop... not to

Re: Front pads & rotors replaced- spongy weak brakes in 97 evc #evcrepair
Droppin bombs-Thanks for the idea and video link.? I wonder if the booster would be "disturbed" by the front brake work and bleed process? All was good til the passenger front caliper stuck. Of

Re: Front pads & rotors replaced- spongy weak brakes in 97 evc #evcrepair
Dan- Thanks! I was wondering if there was a special device buried in the system, such as a ¡°pressure regulator¡± you mention, but the online threads of how-to-bleed-your-EVC-brakes for years around

Re: Front pads & rotors replaced- spongy weak brakes in 97 evc #evcrepair
I use a pinch clamp on all flex hoses to see if that improves the pedal feel; if so, remove one at a time to isolate the problem wheel area. works on any vehicle.Glenn Wolfe?93CV

Re: Front pads & rotors replaced- spongy weak brakes in 97 evc #evcrepair
I believe there might be a pressure regulator or something like that inline which requires some special treatment when bleeding breaks. Happened on my 95 EVC. Dan Sent by the tiny personal

Re: Front pads & rotors replaced- spongy weak brakes in 97 evc #evcrepair
Thanks Jonathan-The fact that even though only the front brakes were worked on, both front AND rear brakes are now no longer working right really points me toward air in the lines in spite of the shop
By Peter Leinau · #162426 ·
Re: Front pads & rotors replaced- spongy weak brakes in 97 evc #evcrepair
Air in the line could cause a mushy pedal, another cause is that something is not quite aligned, like for instance a pad is tipping over slightly, or one piston is slow and so the rotor is bending
