Air in the line could cause a mushy pedal, another cause is that something is not quite aligned, like for instance a pad is tipping over slightly, or one piston is slow and so the rotor is bending slightly. That might be the issue - I assume your mechanic checked all that - or it might just be that they need to bed in.

Hi Jonathan- Just the 2 front rotors and all 4 front pads. Brakes were all fine, then passengers caliper slider pin(s) stuck and the pad/rotor got chewed up- so the front pads & rotors were replaced.
