You are not supposed to fill more than 80% of the tank or you'll get
*liquid* coming out instead of gas. If you want a handle on how long a tank

At least you get gas *out* of your tank..... ;-)

Ed, the Panasonic unit that came with my 99 EVC
(purchased built by Winnebago and purchased by me in
May 99) was an AM/FM Cassette player not a CD. If
Winnebago has substituted a CD player for the cassette
as standard equipment, perhaps that means that they
can hear.

Well, IMHO, the best rear-mounted rack for any vintage EV is the
Draftmaster
system, which also requires that you get a 2" receiver hitch. Since
a
couple of us on this list have tandems, I think a complete setup to
be able
to haul them around is somewhere in the neighborhood of $775. I
haven't
done a whole lot of shopping for hitches, but the cost is a
conservative
estimate. They're killer racks though...

I like Blaupunkt head units for a rather trivial reason: the
color/texture
of the plastic looks like stock VW (Blaupunkt is an OEM supplier
after all).
Even blue button on the Blaupunkt perfectly matches the blue on other
places
on the VW dash. It's a minor thing, but, on the other hand, the
differences
between *any* quality head unit these days is quite minor. They are
all
good; so why not get one that looks stock?

If you want to get really fine sound, you will have to add more/bigger
speakers, and that inevitably means separate amps, and a host of other
issues (start with noise-proofing the EV, and that's a huge task).

On the other hand, if you are content with the best six speakers you
can
find for the stock openings, you can probably skip separate amps
entirely.
Head units these days have quite a lot of power built right in.
Alternatively, add-on amps are cheap, and add some complexity.

Personally, I opted for a cassette receiver and a remote CD player.
But, if
you want ease of installation, and won't miss your tapes, you can get
a CD
receiver. Some CD receivers have an "aux in" jack so if you do find
you
MUST be able to play tapes (say you've got to learn a foreign
language in
three weeks before that big client conference in Japan) you can
always plug
in a Walkman.
