Re: Flasher Relay 92 EVC 5
Eckhard Rolz
We are trying to install a EV cruise control unit from a wreck on 92
Eurovan camper. Everything has gone together so far but the cruise control doesn't work and neither do the 4 way flashers or horn. Questions any one have an idea what relay the flasher is. Not listed in my operators manual and I am still waiting for the service manual. 2. What fuse or circuit number is for the cruise control in early eurovans, cruise circuit is not listed in the manual or fuse box for my 92 EVC. 3. What circuit is the horn on? Reg 92 EVC5 'moose mobile' Dear TYA According to my German Repair manual, which covers the 90-97 EV, German version, the relay for the flasher is in the #6 position, that is the one on the top row, all the way to the right. The fuse for the horn is #13. According to this manual there is no fuse for the cruise control, probably because they did not install it in the German version. The relay for the horn is #11, and a 53 should be printed on the relay (provided you have dual tone horns). Sorry, this is all I can find. Hope it helps. Eckhard |
EVC Questions / Wheels
Larry Schellhase
Tad, the EV wheels will fit the EVC, however, I have not found anyone
at VW who will assure me that they have a load rating that will support the extra weight of the EVC. Tire Rack does not have any aftermarket wheels for the EVC although they have several for the EV. The only wheels I have found that state that they were designed to support the EVC are the Projektzwo Wheels , they are relatively expensive - about $2K for the set. Let me know if you find other wheel choices for the EVC, for the time being I have learned to live with the wheel covers. --- tmitsui@... wrote: snip ------------------------------------------------------------------------ __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? And, if I am not mistaken, the fully loaded weight for each vehicle is the same...the EVC simply carries that weight most often. Thus, I would be comfortable using any EV wheels on the EVC. 93 EV MV Custom
I am about to be the new owner of a 93 Eurovan MV with custom raised top and
lift (it belonged to a person in a wheelchair). I am interested in any info available on tents that can attach to this van (since it is not a EVC) and helpful hints on maintenance, etc. I am looking forward to joining the Eurovan owners club. Tad,

Seems to me that DC is pretty centrally located on the east east, not more than a few hours from many major cities (and VW dealers). You should be able to get a list of EVC dealers off the Internet and start calling around to see who can offer you the best price. Of course, you can also let your "local" dealers know that you're going to get prices from other dealers and are willing to travel a few hours to get a better deal --- that's generally enough incentive for a dealer to cut a better deal. At the very least, you should be able to get the base price of a EVC down to around 33K (not including sales tax). There's really no need for any dealer installed options, which primarily only serve to give the dealer additional profit. >> A dealer required 6 month delivery. That dealer obviously isn't very interested in your business. Look elsewhere. >> By the way, I have found one another >> difference between EV and EVC at >> the VW web site. EVC do not have >> alloy wheels but steel wheels. Can I >> use the optional Rondo alloy >> wheels for the EVC? I seem to recall there was a discussion about that several months ago -- you should be able to find it in the EV-Update archives. The answer will probably depend upon whether or not the alloy wheels are certified to carry the additional weight of the EVC. Sheldon '97 EVC |
EVC Questions (thank you)
Sheldon, Alex and schellhas-@... (Sorry, I couldn't find your name),
Thank you for the comments. I'll call VW to make sure the 2kEVC will be released or not. Since 99EVC will be at a local dealer shortly, however, I may not be able to wait for the 2kEVC, if it will be released. I hard the differences between 2k MV and 99 MV were side/rear tinted glass windows, remote key system and a brake-wear indicator. None of them are critical for me, though I like the remote key feature. It may be difficult for me to expect below $36k price. The price may be something to do with area I live, the DC area. I called local dealers and found only 3 dealers could handle the EVC in 13 dealers. A dealer required 6 month delivery. By the way, I have found one another difference between EV and EVC at the VW web site. EVC do not have alloy wheels but steel wheels. Can I use the optional Rondo alloy wheels for the EVC? Thanks, Tad |
Re: hood shield...do they work? Where to get it???
Severin D Chayka
I'd ask where to get it (bug deflector) for EVC. I was looking for one before my trip to Alaska this last June, but could not find it anywhere. Next summer we are doing up there again and it would help for sure, but I still do not know where to get it. Any ideas?

From: Sklashley@... [mailto:Sklashley@...] Sent: Wednesday, September 01, 1999 9:33 PM To: ev_update@... Subject: [ev_update] Add on Rain Gutters Web Page Up Trying out the new list here. Hope it is up an running. I've gotten behind on getting information out to some of you and I'm trying my best to get caught up. I still owe some of you information on curtain kits and cabinet kits. I'll keep working when I can. <A href=">HighRail Raingutters for EuroVans</A> This new web page has information on the add on aluminum rain gutter kits for EuroVans. They come in black or silver (only black for the longer wheelbase) and attach with screws and adhesive. Once installed, they look very much like factory rain gutters. There are several benefits to having rain gutters. You can easily attach a side tent or an awning, and they help keep water from dripping in when your doors or windows are open. They will also accommodate many gutter mounted roof rack systems. The gutters are reversible, so you can put them on both sides or just one side of your EV. The end cap kits have different part numbers for the left or right sides. The end cap kits include the screws, instructions and adhesive. I do not yet have these in stock, but I will place an order if I can get at least 5 people who want to purchase them. They would all be shipped in a long plastic tube, and I would need to repack them for each individual order in a similar way. I don't yet know the cost of shipping these, but expect to pay additional charges for oversized packages. Shipping to Canada may be near impossible, or prohibitively expensive. They would be too long for standard post, and UPS is much too expensive to ship to Canada with. I could investigate Federal Express to see what they may offer. Anyway, sorry for the delay in getting this out. P-mail me with any questions or concerns.
