The price is $75,000, I don't know if that is list, or selling price. Also, Sportsmobile of Austin, TX is in the process of converting a 140 Sprinter to a camper ( on spec)(A lot like an EVC I think) They told me that if someone orders one, they will build on a 158 wheelbase. 92-93 window swap
nmykytyn1
Hi from Up here in the Hudson Valley Region of NY.
Just purchased a 93 Eurovan GL, and I to saw the Ebay 92 Euro parts car I've got a hold on the sliding windows. Just wanted to check to see if they will fit without too much difficulty. I've checked with Triumph Auto Glass they said they can do it if the body style/window opening is the same. for $75 each side. Anyone out there know if its possible? Thanks Nick Mykytyn |

I've been shopping for tires too. I checked out the Agilis tire at
the local Costco tire shop. They can get them (2-3 days max) and quoted me $116.00 each including mounting and balancing. Re: "Desperately Seeking Shocks"
Thomas Isom
I mentioned on the VW_Eurovan group list that my '93 EV GL, which I
just bought about 10 days ago, has Monroe Magnum shocks on the front, at least (haven't taken a look at the rears -- noticed the fronts doing an oil change). They are olive green and quite beefy-looking (large diameter), so they're probably the same ones "toymasters2002" mentioned. They are very good, at least on my 5-cyl GL. They give me a controlled ride and handling. They are much, much better than your typical American OEM-type shock. I was surprised that Monroes were that good, because when I had Monroe struts installed on a Merkur XR4Ti I used to own they were so terrible I immediately went back to the Pep Boys shop and told them they had to take them off because they were no better than the worn out stock units. I had some KYBs installed which were OK, but not great. Anyway, I am a pretty picky car guy and I can vouch for the Monroes. They may not be adequate for a heavy camper or Weekender, but they work great on a 5-cyl GL. One thing we all have to realize with the EV is that your are never going to get the ride quality of a good car because in the front you're sitting very close to the front wheels, so all of the bumps in the road are felt, unlike if you were sitting closer to the center of a car, where the vehicle can basically pivot around your seating position as bumps are absorbed front and rear. Of course you're not actually *sitting* on the front axle like you are on a pre-T4/EV VW van . . . Anyway, if you want controlled, European-style handling on your EV you certainly can't have an American land-barge feel. In the EV, you are going to feel every bump in the road. --- In ev_update@y..., "toymasters2002" <sukitoby@l...> wrote: I dont know if anybody else mentioned this but Monroe does listthe originals. Re: 92-93 COMPATIBILITY
I have a 92. The coils are interchangeable, done that. The Fuel
injection system has some differences though, as does the timing belt, water pump, and transmisson motor mount. Some early 92 models do not use a serpentine belt. This means that the AC and Alternator will not fit the 93s. So check out compatibilty before you buy any of those parts. --- In ev_update@y..., "guydakine" <guybwhite@n...> wrote: HEY! I dont know if anybody else mentioned this but Monroe does list
shocks for the EV. If you buy when they have "buy one get one free" you can get them pretty cheap Advance Auto Parts ordered mine and honored the pricing They are olive drab, made in Belgium and thicker and heavier than the originals. Re: Which Hitch-Mounted Bike Rack is best for EVC?

I got a Bauer hitch-mounted bike rack but mine is for a 2" class 3 hitch.

It swings to the side with or without the bikes on and you can obtain an attachment to add 2 bikes for up to a total of 4 bikes. It comes with a lock that locks the rack to the hitch and also locks that lock the bikes to the rack. It works great. Bill D. ----- Original Message -----

To all of you 'lucky' guys putting new Bilstein's on your (nearly)
new EVC's; If your old set is still good I might be interested in putting them on my '92 EV with 190,000 kms on the originals. Let me know the condition and km's on yours and how much you want for them. (The cheaper the better, thanks!) Enjoy the ride, boys and girls! 'Max' |

There are some screws hidden in behind the speaker. Now the trick is that the entire panel lifts straight up instead of the usual out and away from the door. If you attempt to pry out on what you think are the normal panel spring attachments, you'll end up breaking off the molded plastic hook which is part of the entire panel. VW is apparently the sole manufacturer who has deviated from this "standard" design. Baldy |
Re: fog lights
<PRE>Bumper as in bumper cover/air dam... I don't know if the 2001 U.S. spec is
the same size, I would assume it is. In addition to buying the part and having it installed it would also need to be painted to match the van. The estimate here was around $1200 (including the fog lights and wiring)... |
VW Van Recipes request
Larry Chase
Volks,
As I work on the Web Site for my upcoming trip, it occurred to me that I might need to prepare a meal or two while on the road for a year or more. But I can only prepare two dishes, neither which I care for that much :) Scouring the archives, I got 70+ hits for recipes. Great ... starting point. I'll sort through these and post the best. But I bet there are still a bunch of great ones out there. So Volks ..... please send your favorites if they aren't in the archives. To quote one of the recipe postings "camping recipes you can make easily on a small, two-burner stove". I'll put them on the website for all to reference. One nice neat, all in one place package. As I come across new ones I'll post them and keep the collection growing. Eat, Shrink, Be Mary!
