Does anybody know of a repair shop in Southern California that has done or is confirmed willing to do exhaust manifold work on a 1993 EV? I've taken my EV to two shops, and neither of them want to touch it.

I'm told my exhaust manifold has a crack/leak.? I've sourced a spare.? I'm tempted to try it myself, but I don't have anybody to assist, prob missing some tools, and have never done anything like this before.

Just ordered the GoWesty kit to finally! replace my aging 15” steelies and get some better rubber options. And level out the terrible lean!?
Any alignment/suspension shops you like in Los Angeles??

Richard Middleton at Cool Air Auto in Belton, Missouri rebuilt my Eurovan automatic transmission. Certainly one of the top VW auto trans builders in the country.

after reading posts mentioning the growing paucity of reliable shops, I thought I'd put in a word for three I've had excellent experiences:
?
MAG VW? Dublin,OH?
?? This is my hometown dealer I've worked with the service manager Stan Ralph for 40 years of different VW's.? I'm sure that familiarity helps. Developing a? relationship one primary advisor and having mechanics with years of experience helps.? They have gone above and beyond what most places would do whether I'm in town or somewhere on the road to help and often work with on the phone a shop somewhere to help me out.
?
Konstruct Performance Inc? Santa Fe,NM
?? The above mentioned Stan Ralph called them to plead my case with this VW/Audio only independent shop.
?
Here's my review: ?1997 VW Eurovan full camper Visiting Santa Fe from Ohio when check engine light came on and engine stated missing. Checked the codes with my handy code reader(27 year old vehicle, good to carry one). Code said cylinders misfiring. Checked with 3 VW dealers and 4 independent shops in SF and Albuquerque. Konstruct was the only one that even works on Eurovans. They were scheduled 3 weeks out but brought me in for a diagnostic, offered to get the parts and had me fixed and on the road in 3 days. Great to work with, costs were right on the estimate. Cannot recommend them enough.
?
Integrity Import Service, Grawn, MI (Traverse City)
?
? Another independent shop welcoming Eurovans with excellent reputation.? I'm fortunate to have a second home near Grayling,MI where I also store the EVC winters.? I've used them for routine service and to track down dreaded check engine lights.? They are very accommodating.? Even give you a free loner car.
One note. If it's a CEL they have a standard $300 fee to find the problem. The actual repair cost is on top of that.
?
I hope this info may be of help.? If you do happen to go to MAG, ask for Celsea. She's my current? service advisor and mention my name: Elden Apling.? It couldn't hurt.
Before Chelsea, I had Bobby C. who spent a lot of time talking to shops around the country to find the best option? to rebuild my transmission.
Raul’s German Auto in Santa Rosa, CA - there are other local German auto repair shops in the area but I haven’t used them or know if they work on EVs. Raul is great and very reasonable. Kate 03 MV Weekender 17 Golf Alltrack

Good call. I’ve resorted to the same thing many times including yesterday from a parts seller for this radial shaft seal on the Syncro prop shaft output flange—does not exist in N. America in the VAG network but if you happen to have one or I left some stone unturned pls lmk!

Re: 2003 2.8 Eurovan upshifts are hard if I lift my foot before 4th gear
Anyone else experienced this hard shift when accelerator pressure is lifted/reduced?
The first thing I'd do is try a TCM reset.? Using VCDS(VAG-COM) is the easiest, but you could try the procedure here on the group.? I think there's another procedure that's slightly different for some years.
Thanks for this thread/forum. This is my first post...Regarding the list of garages/mechanics: it would be nice if there were a way to post a comment about the garage/mechanic.
Big Q in Santa Monica, CA should be avoided.? They might have had a mechanic in the past who worked on Eurovans, but just try to find a different garage.

When I bought my 2003 Eurovan/T4 from the original owner 5 years ago, it had 102,000 miles on it. I had a noticeably hard 1/2 upshift if the accelerator pedal pressure was lifted/decreased after initial acceleration away from a stop. Now, 5 years later with 130,000 miles on it,....I get hard upshifts with 1/2, 2/3 and 3/4 upshifts IF and only if I lift my foot after initial acceleration, before reaching 4th gear. To clarify,......If I apply throttle from a stop,.....AND keep my foot position constant,.....(do not lift my foot) then, all the shifts are normal. It does this whether hot or cold,.....no difference. I did a transmission service when I first bought the van,....replacing the filter and fluid (just draining and refilling with filter),....and have changed it it again at 129,000 miles. I also replaced all three engine and transmission mounts when I first bought it. I have read that the N92 solenoid controls shift quality,....and that the internal ribbon cables can cause various issues,......
Anyone else experienced this hard shift when accelerator pressure is lifted/reduced?
