Re: 2002 Weekender Heater Core Issue- Maybe

Hi David, I did a similar job on my 2003 GLS ( I did the camper conversion) with 256000 miles, in addition to the engine work had the transmission fully rebuilt. I was wondering how much you put in the engine work, I spent about 10k. Mine runs like a new one now.

At the moment I’m about 5000 miles into an east coast road trip and it’s running smooth and strong - like brand new. I’ve been meaning to do a post on all the crazy stuff Sterling did to the van. Soon. But he’s your guy in Denver.

Jim,

I should have also given a shout out to Cole Ford, in the Denver area. I don’t think he’s turning wrenches any longer but great person for advice and a big contributor to this board over the years. Check him a Cavevan.com.

It only takes a tiny amount of antifreeze to make s stink and fog your windshield. Do something about this ASAP before you have a catastrophic blowout.

Don't overthink this!
Heater Core blown...
You can bypass the heater core till you get time to pull the dash to access the heater core, and deal with the blend door foam at the same time...

2002 Weekender Heater Core Issue- Maybe

Read thru most heater core posts, but have odd situation-
2002 Weekender- when I turn on the heat control, I get a definite antifreeze smell and the inside of the windshield fogs up
I don't see any leakage trails inside the vehicle or under the hood. Also don't see any reduction in the antifreeze level.
Any thoughts on this? Misting when heat is on? Heater core or control assembly?
Any thoughts appreciated.
Also any reccommendations on Eurovan repair folks in Denver-Boulder, CO area?
?
Thanks,

My instrument cluster on my 99 eurovan camper broke. I found this repair service on eBay and gave them a try. The name of the company is speedy repair services. Cost about $425, but well worth it. I removed the cluster myself by watching a video on you tube. I’m not a mechanic and it took awhile but I did it. The cluster works perfectly.

My 1999 EVC gauge cluster analog instruments are inoperable. The digital display for the odometer and different notification lights such as low fuel still operate. I've been looking across the internet to try and find information on the process of swapping clusters. Don't anticipate being able to find a new cluster so will need to salvage a cluster from another van.? Would doing a swap require a trip to the dealership for recoding? Is it even possible to successfully swap clusters?? Hoping this amazing group can help. Thank you all in advance for helping this long-time lurker and first time poster.

Duane,
Do you know anything about the vacuum lines and the five cylinder model?

You'll need to measure the length of your coil wire to get the correct set, but it will be either or

Re: spark plug wires

I found a lot of VW specific places said nla but I located a set of STI/Bremi wires online from one of the major parts retailers. This was several weeks ago so you should be able to source them.?

Good luck,
