Re: Intermittent Misfires on Startup
Suggests to me that you should change the lambda sensor and see where that takes it. They are consumables anyway (50k miles IIRC)
If you can read data then check temp sensors are reading something believable too.? Le 16 avr. 2021 à 19:30 +0200, Wigen via groups.io <chenely63@...>, a écrit :

Replacing Oil Pressure Sensors
Afternoon
1997 EVC
For any of you who may have replaced the oil pressure sensors
on the back side of the oil filter housing, were you able to replace them without removing the oil filter housing? One of them on my '97 is leaking slightly. It appears it might be possible but perhaps removing the housing would be easier. Thanks, in advance.

Intermittent Misfires on Startup

Air Intake Boot replacement
Karey Krauter
For an EVC 2002, in Palo Alto California.? My mechanic found a leak in "air intake boot torn by the PVC inlet pipe".? My guy is having trouble finding a replacement, new or used.? Anyone with an extra out there, or suggestions where to find one?? My mechanic is NOT euroquattro, altho I did take advantage of euroquattro years ago when timing chain needed replacing, they were miraculous - but I use my within-walking-distance guy for regular maint.? I'm trying to decide if it would be rude to ask euroquattro if they can find the part, and then have my own guy finish the fix.? Meanwhile, my guy has glued/bonded the tear, which makes the van code-free, but this can't be the permanent fix.? Thanks for your thoughts!

Re: changing milky power steering fluid
You need to remove the return line (low pressure) from the pump and put it in a container
Then plan on using lots of fresh, expensive power steering fluid The best way is to have the front tires off the ground and person in the drivers seat Have them start the car while you pour power steering fluid in the reservoir keeping it topped off. They need to turn the steering wheel. Once you get nice geen expensive fluid flowing into your bucket, you are done Your current method will take forever as you are constantly mixed the new and old fluid Stephen |
changing milky power steering fluid
My 02 Sunstar must have got air or water into the PS system and the fluid has turned milky white. It has also froze up during this past winter. I'm not sure when it was last changed and am hoping it just needs a fluid change. I don't see a leak underneath the van so don't know how air or water is getting in. A U Tube video shows sucking the fluid out through the reservoir on a Eurovan which is what I'm doing. I've gone through 2 L of the expensive green fluid trying to flush the system and the milky fluid is starting to turn a bit green but is still there. Can someone tell me about how much fluid will it take to get flush out the old stuff or if there is a better way to drain out the system rather than sucking out through the reservoir? Is there a bleed valve? Thanks for any help.

Re: 2002 evc speedo stopped and weird resistance from wheels
Slavic,
You were spot on.? funny, VW dealer stated, of $450 and we'll change the sensor and that will fix everything.... they even asked if the Transmission was rebuilt... I told them yes it was 6000 miles ago in 2019.? I told them to not touch anything and that I would tow to another shop (They didn't charge me ... thankfully).? I towed the Van to Euro Quattro... those guys did a free diagnoses for me and asked the same question about if the trans was rebulit.? They also placed on the lift, did a quick diag and told me the differential is bad. :(.? ?I had such a poor experience with the shop that sublet the rebuild of my transmission that I know that owner will be very defensive when I ask them to work with me on fixing this transmission.? I should've went the German Transaxle route instead of doing the rebuild.? Not sure how to approach some sort of "warranty claim" with this shop.? Thanks all for the great feedback and knowledge transfer! |
Re: 2002 evc speedo stopped and weird resistance from wheels
As a general statement that might be true, however Euroquattro has maintained my 1999 EVC since 2006 and I made the recommendation based on my own personal experience. It was not a random advertisement.

Re: 2002 evc speedo stopped and weird resistance from wheels
The "easy" fix if there is a problems with the axles. But one of my guesses is that the differential is on the way out. The gears can seeze if there is low fluid level in final drive. Eurovan automatic transmissions has two different fluids in them (automatic transmission fluid and also final drive gear oil), some mechanics do not even know this.?

I hope its not the case with your transmission because its requires transmission removal and complete tear down of the transmission.? But I would check the final drive fluid level and the condition of it.? To check the gear oil level in the final drive you will need to remove the pendulum (bottom/rear) transmission mount. On the back of the transmission there is a plug for 17 mm allen wrench. Its not far from the vehicle speed sensor (the one that is melted on your transmission).? You can jack up the front of the van from tbe ground to be able both front wheels to rotate. Put on "Neutral" and rotate each wheel by hand to see if there is any resistance or noise and from where the noise is coming from. When rotating one wheel - look at other wheel in which dirrection its turns. If the other wheel rotates in opposite dirrection -? the differential not seized.? Believe me, I've seen quite a few vans/campers/Rialtas with seized differential. But I hope its not the case with your '02 EV Camper. Can be way simpler fix, hard to diagnose if its not here.?
