Re: Does anybody have a 2000 EV owners manual?
I've got an extra new?2001 EuroVan manual?complete as it came in vehicle?(in zippered case). If it or info from it would work, email me private.??Cheers?? quizico@... ... ---In ev_update@..., <domitype@...> wrote : Mine got water damaged a few years ago, very hard to read some pages. If someone does have one handy, it would be great if you could scan the page(s) that identifies all of the warning indicators on the display panel and post it to the Group Files section.? Thanks in advance to whoever can do this! (Replacement manuals are like $90 from Bentley or $190 on Amazon - used!) Dave Richoux 2000 EVC |

"Overdrive" is a gear ratio that is designed to run an engine at a lower RPM at highway speed to save on fuel and make less noise. In most common cars the only overdrive gear is the highest gear while the 1:1 ratio is direct below it. In a 5 speed over drive is 5th and 4th is 1:1, in a 4 speed like the Eurovan auto the overdrive is 4th and the 1:1 gear is 3rd The auto gear ratios are 1st 2.71, 2nd 1.55, 3rd 1.00, 4th 0.68 Notice the 1.00 ratio and the <1.00 top rear (overdrive) Now, some modern cars with 8-9 speed transmissions have 2 over drive gears above the 1.00 ratio.? Lee, if you have something similar or better - please share.Glad to! One that's been around for at least 20 years is the Xantrex "LinkLite" / Heart Interface "Link-10" / Cruising Equipment "E-meter". These are all basically the same meter; just upgraded over the years, with name changes as each company was bought out. It's a round gauge that fits in a 2" hole, and has digital readouts of volts, amps, amphours, kilowathours, temperature, state of charge, and too many other things to list here. They run about $200 new, but since they've been made for so long, you can often find used one for less. These are precision instruments, with an accuracy more like a Fluke meter than a Harbor Freight special. At the other end of the spectrum, there are meters like the LightObject EPM-series meters. There are many models, and they keep changing; here's one example: It's a rectangular digital meter that measures DC volts, amps, and amphours. Again, lots of options that you may not need. It's Chinese, so lower quality and the manual stinks; but it works. Typically $40-$70. In between, there are a dozen other options. Re: Chronic Limp Mode - 97 EVC
FYI - you probably could have sped up that "transmission learning" with the transmission reset procedure.
This was required after the "re-wiring" of my melted wiring harness going to the transmission. Posted photo of my melted connector/wires -? ?? Subject: Resetting the Eurovan Adaptive Transmission Sequencing The Eurovan uses an electronically controlled transmission which sets shifting points based upon engine load and RPM information that is "learned" from your specific driving habits.? This information, which is stored in the transmission's electronic control unit, can sometimes become garbled and may need to be reset to the default pattern,so that it will "re-learn" your driving style. In order to perform this reset, do the following: 1. Turn on the ignition, without starting the engine. 2. Turn the ignition back to the off position. 3. Turn ignition on again without starting the engine and depress the accelerator all the way to the floor, holding the pedal there for a? minimum of ten seconds. 4. Release the accelerator pedal and then start the engine in the regular manner. 5. Drive the vehicle making sure that the transmission shifts through all four gears. ? |
Re: Replacing lock cylinder in door handle
开云体育Thanks Norby, that's a great help. Initially I was trying to decide whether that pin was a pin or some tiny screw and I didn't want to start hammering at it without being sure.? Paula On Jun 22, 2015, at 10:22 AM, Norby Lettenmaier norbylett@... [ev_update] <ev_update@...> wrote:

There is a small pin that holds the lock in place.? Use a small punch to knock it out.? It piece it holds in is spring loaded so watch for the spring.? It is what returns the key to home position.? Insert your key and get tumblers lined up then pull out the lock out.? I've done this a few times.? Some new door handles come with locks and keys and some don't.? I'm still using the same key.? Re: Chronic Limp Mode - 97 EVC
开云体育I had limp mode with my ‘97EVC twice and did a whole cleanup of the
connectors to battery, ECU, ABS module and also, cleaned the big plug to the
transmission.....it helped much ‘cause I don’t have limp mode anymore since that
time.....Finally, got a tranny oil and filter change again and my mechanic found
a culprit: one of the solenoid connector on the valve body was loose. So he took
it off, cleaned it with stuff and curved something around it so it would stay in
place without getting loose any more....Since that fix, I never went into limp
mode again and I have driven 10,000 miles so far !!! Try to clean everything and
also check your valve body carefully ‘cause that’s the one to be
suspected....It’s all ELECTRONIC over there and limp mode is caused by
ELECTRONIC failure somewhere !!! Good luck...

开云体育what the heck is "overdrive" From: ev_update@... To: ev_update@... Date: Sun, 21 Jun 2015 12:15:16 -0700 Subject: [ev_update] Re: Chronic Limp Mode - 97 EVC ?
Thanks, Duckdive and all the others.
I checked and rechecked a bunch possible causes, then rolled the dice last weekend and started a longish trip in limp mode hoping that the tranny would figure itself out, and it did.? After about an hour of driving at 55-60MPH (~2900RPM) she decided to go into overdrive, and stayed out of limp mode until today.? All is good - for the moment.? Duckdive, I did mess with the wires coming out of the connector on the back left side of the transaxel. I've had the connector off multiple times, and have cleaned/inspected both sides etc. But never really focused on the wires coming out of the connector. This might have helped, but I'll never know unless I can repeat the procedure. While I hope not, I imagine I'll get the opportunity, and this will be my focus next time there's a problem. This isn't terribly satisfying from a root cause perspective. Stephan mentioned the ignition switch glitch. I haven't really considered it because it was replaced not long ago. One thing I did learn was a cool trick for cleaning the pins on the TCU and ECU. I used one of my kid's gummy erasers from their school bag.? The softer rubber type that are usually whitish in color.? As I ran it over the pin array, the pins cut into the eraser.? This cut channels into the eraser that fit snugly over the pins the deeper they cut in. The result was very shiny pins, better than any other method I've tried before. I'll update the board over time about the success of this "fix".? Thanks again.? |
