Thanks Norby, that's a great help. Initially I was trying to decide whether that pin was a pin or some tiny screw and I didn't want to start hammering at it without being sure.?

There is a small pin that holds the lock in place.? Use a small punch to knock it out.? It piece it holds in is spring loaded so watch for the spring.? It is what returns the key to home position.? Insert your key and get tumblers lined up then pull out the lock out.? I've done this a few times.? Some new door handles come with locks and keys and some don't.? I'm still using the same key.? Easy work for lock smith as John mentioned.
