Re: Air conditioning blower stopped / intermittent

Bob.

If it is not the ignition switch and not relay #140( that stoped the radiator fans when I pulled it ) what are the other ways the ac blower fan stops working ?
Thank you .

Re: Air conditioning blower stopped / intermittent

Bryan.

I checked and I do have the 140 relay . I pulled it with the ac switched on and it discontinued the fans on the radiator . Does this relay effect the blower that blows the cold air inside from the AC ?

I agree that pressure bleeding should take care of the problem. Does not seem like there is air in the lines because when you pump the pedal the pressure stays the same. If there was air in the lines, pumping would increase the pressure.

Re: Air conditioning blower stopped / intermittent

Yes headlights work .... Or I would be in a bit of trouble by now driving at night . I'm well aware of ignition switch issues , changed it oh so many times . Though the harness could be issue perhaps , but I'm leaning towards a relay possibility , at least that's what I'm hoping .

For Sale: Hubcaps & Headlights

For Sale:

VW hubcaps for 15" wheels (set of 4 in fair/good condition, a few scratches) - $25 + Shipping

OEM headlights from a 1993 EV (good condition & with an extra set of bulbs) - $40 + Shipping

Just cleaning out some stuff in the garage before I move.

Re: Air conditioning blower stopped / intermittent

How about ignition switch? When the blower doesn't blow, do the headlights also not illuminate? If so, it's the ignition switch, a $10 replacement part.

Re: Bench Bleed Master Cylinder?

Rick, is the pedal in two different places while engine off and engine on?? Head scratcher.? Yes, vacuum booster is to augment foot pressure.? Couple of things-? the system still has air in it, and/or there does seem to be a possibility that the ABS module could have air in it.? It has a hydraulic pump in its mechanism, and there does appear to be a bleed procedure for it.?

?

If you have bled the system, then the master cylinder is bled during this process.

Re: Camdec 97226 House Battery Solenoid Relay replacement?

I ended up just repairing the Camdec - it wasn't terribly hard and was kind of fun to see how it's constructed. It's a terribly simple device, and failed due to corroded contacts.

I went to NAPA auto parts who sold me an Echlin ST51 which looks quite similar, however now I'm wondering if I got the wrong part.

NAPA/Echlin doesn't seem to publish much in the way of specifications (which is worrying) and the best I can find is this:

Which seems to suggest I got a starting solenoid, which is rated for "intermittent" use - this is not what's needed for a house battery solenoid.

I know SurePower makes battery isolators such as the 1314:

But they also have had a big recall:

Re: Bench Bleed Master Cylinder?

Bad booster will do just what you are saying,? I have replaced them (in the business)? quite a few times on cars which are the same.

Brake pedal is low but at a consistent height when engine is on. With engine off, I can pump the pedal and get it to stay higher. Seems like air in the lines after all, but why would I not be able to duplicate the ¡°pump up¡± with the engine on? Also, does not make sense that a bad booster would cause the pedal to be low. I thought the booster was only to augment your foot pressure. Most of the forums agree with this - booster has nothing to do with pedal level or ¡°softness¡±.

I've seen a bad booster cause pedal issues and a 'soft' feel.

Re: Air conditioning blower stopped / intermittent

I just went through this over the past month, mine was the 140 relay above the fuses, I have a '03 though, not sure what it is in yours.? They have bad contacts sometimes.

My 95 evc ?Ac worked... fine and is cold till yesterday .The fan just stopped working as it is very hot here in Florida. I parked for a while and restarted and ?it worked. But since yesterday, it?might work or it might not,?there seems to be no rhyme or reason of it keeping me cool or not. I fiddled with the switch ( does not seem to be a short ) , I checked the fan bearings and it spins smooth. When I activate the ac, I hear it engage , so I know that is working , just nothing to blow it I am presuming .

Any insights are appreciated.

Thank you !

Re: Camdec 97226 House Battery Solenoid Relay replacement?

Well, look at a golf cart solenoid rated for many times the current that could flow to a discharged coach battery. Remember this is just a passive unit. Applying the starter battery voltage to it trips a simple "switch" applying the alternator output to both batteries. I installed a new marine winch 12v continuous duty solenoid rated at 100A. Had the same form factor, used the same mounting holes. Worked swell. You can see many examples on Amazon.?

Re: 1999 EVC Transmission Leak

I have had the O ring on the fill tube leak, and it looks like the pan gasket is leaking.? If the fill tube is wet around the base of it, that little pocket there, then replace that o ring.

1993 VW eurovan mv

My eurovan has heating problems, the gauge goes to hot and the red light is blinking. I have changed the thermostat and all the sensors no help. The fans come on both low and high speed, and I have a infred gun that shows the temp is 190 deg. Anyone see this before and how can I fix this?

Thx bill

Re: Water in folds of pop-up

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Actually, this is a common problem with all EVC's, but it's not water that is caught in the folds of the canvas but rather water coming around or under the black rubber 'dam' in the drainage channels that run along the sides of the metal roof and under
near the front corners where the canvas is fastened. Over time the adhesive holding the dams loosens allowing water to pass which gets
into the pop top latch area and pours out when the vehicle makes a turn.
I've recaulked mine several times.

I have a peculiar problem with my 97 Eurovan. When it rains, water accumulates in the folds of the popup fabric on the driver's side (above the sink). The roof appears to come all the way down to make a good seal between the pop-up and the top of the van, and the water only accumulates in the fold itself. I don't see water until I make a sharp turn and it pours out.?

Any ideas? I want to fix this problem so I can sell the van. If anyone on the Front Range of Colorado is looking for a Eurovan, email me here.?

Bad Vacuum booster will do that.....

If the MC is producing pressure ..then mostly likely it's bench bleed..
or past the need for bench bleeding.

bench bleeding is done to get brake fluid into an air-filled MC right out of the box, so it can pump brake fluid.

pressure bleeding normally would take care of that - like bypasses the need for bench bleeding.
Seems like more bleeding ( and watching for air bubbles during that process? ) is in order.

Is there a bit of free play at the top of the brake pedal travel ?
important that the pedal and pushrod not be holding MC pistons off of fully seated.

if they gave it back to you like that, seems they didn't finish the job really.

Re: MAP Sensor

You don't say what client you're running.

Anyway, if you're on a Mac or PC using Chrome, you should see a bar across the top that says Home Mail Search News Sports Finance..... when you're logged in to Yahoo. Underneath that is another bar that says YAHOO! groups followed by a search field followed by a 'Search Groups' button and a 'Search Web' button, then your account icon, a Mail icon and a gear icon. If you click on 'conversations' the search field gets filled in will grey text that says 'Search Conversations'. Just type your search terms in there and hit 'Return', don't click on the buttons.

But let's assume you see none of that.

Scroll down in the messages. At some point you should see little floating icons appear at the bottom of the page which look like a magnifying glass and an up arrow. You can click on the magnifying glass to search conversations. There is more about this here:?
