Generally they have this much room to play.  It comes down to how much the 
dealer wants to get one off their lot and how long it has been there.  Look 
on the drivers door sticker where it has the VIN number, it will also have 
the date it was made.  

When I purchased mine last July I got it for about $3,000 off MSRP.

I'm astounded. 	So am I, but take heart. My dealer had a list price of $48,000 on the
window of the EVC, which he never was able to explain. I bought it, with
2-passenger center seat and cassette unit, for $33,000. It was McKenna VW
in Huntington Beach, and I got the reference using Carpoint, I think. I
tried several Internet buying services and got only two responses, but one
of them paid off big-time.
	McKenna has several dealerships, but you can start with the fleet manager
in HB at 714-842-2000 and see if they have one in stock.

I got the same VWofA promotion yesterday.  I suspect this is a followup to 
the request I made for the EuroVan Brochure last year.  It covers the GLS, 
MV, and MV Weekender models, but unfortunately for me, not the EVC.

I also picked up the March VW Trends magazine (50 Years of the Bus) at a 
local grocery store yesterday.  There sure is a lot of history in this issue.

Your misdirected subject title may be more appropriate than you think!  I 
performed similar under-the-dash work in 1993 and ruptured a disk, putting me 
in surgery and out of work for a couple of months.  That job was really 
murder!

I found making a list (per activity, going camping + fishing, or
biking...) and refining it as you go over time alows you to not have to
remember all of lessons over again.  Just print it out and check them
off.  Then take the list with you.  Add items if you discover on this
trip you should have brought X.  Don't forget to update the list when
you return.

I also pack items in medium/large plastic containers and store them on
a shelf in the garage.  When its time to go, I grab containers X, Y, Z
... depending on how long the trip is/what we're going to do.

Wow, that's a lot to type for 2 cents...

We had a similar problem with the cruise control on our '97 EVC when we
first got it.  The problem was quickly corrected by the dealer's service
dept by adjusting the sensitivity of the brake pedal override switch.

So what octane should we be using in my wife's 93

call Theo at Campbell Nelson in Lynnwood WA (near Seattle).  They have 2-3
evc's on the lot (maybe they're 99's though).  Nonetheless, I expect you
will hear a number well under the 37.7.

Bob-  I have just bought a 99 evc-I looked for a long time at other
camper vans-They are all much more expensive then the evc- the
Sportsmobile, which was one of the first to convert VW vans in the
early 60"s now costs well over 40000 and is very glitzy and over done
in my opinion.  The evc is by far the least expensive camper van made. 
The best thing about it is its simplicity- I also have a 85 westy which
I love/hate--the evc is no comparison-I call the EVc my real car
because it can go as fast as any on the highway-has great heat and air
etc.etc  -37000 is alot of money -but it is a deal when it comes to
campers-Lary

Bob... the price to join this club doesn't come cheap... LOL.
 
My guess from lurking around here is that a 1999 EVC new sold for around
31,000 to 36,000 w/seat.  I paid a lot for my 99EVC... $34,900, but I've
enjoyed every minute of ownership (when it's in my garage ... rather than
when it's in the VW service bays... I had to put that in... sorry).

Bob,
Good point.  The video also got me interested in the '93.  It was a delayed 
action since I waited until Feb '94 to buy.  Maybe VW looked at the list of 
people they sent the '93 video to and figured they might be ready to buy 
again.  Perhaps one last sales push for the T4 before they move on.  For me 
they would need to have a 5 speed model  priced closer to 25K before I would 
see any possibility.  I do like to dream however so you never know.  Imagine 
having my own Camper. Bring on the movie!
