Re: Bentley paper vs. electronic, for a 2000 Eurovan?

I have the Bentley DVD version, runs on XP on an old laptop I have.
Initially I found it very confusing and hard to navigate.
I would say it's not very intuitive but I think a lot of windows based programs to be that way.
It does cover Eurovans up to 2003.
I wish manuals, repair or descriptive would actually show you how to take something apart
rather than just saying 'remove', and then 'reverse' the procedure.
I don't have the printed 3 volume set but have seen it.

Subject: [eurovanupdate] Bentley paper vs. electronic, for a 2000 Eurovan?

It's increasingly likely that having a Bentley repair manual for my Eurovan would be useful.

The question is: which one?

If I go to they show the printed Repair Manual, but it's listed as covering 1992-1999.

Does that cover the 2000?

This is confusing, as in most divisions, the 2000 falls within the 1997-2000 group, although there are some "early 2000" / "late 2000" differences I've seen with certain parts.

If you search for the DVD version, some places are offering it for a mere $1000-2000!

I found one place offering the DVD for $99 and claims to have it in stock:

to run the DVD version, I'd probably just create a Windows 2000 virtual machine (VM) and put it on my MacBook air...

Re: 1995 EVC Torsion Bar Bushing?

I would look at the sway bar bushings and links.? Those are pretty inexpensive and seem to clunk / rattle when the bushing is worn enough for the bar to rattle in there.

Indeed - my house battery relay failed, and I replaced it with the wrong model which failed, then tried to repair it, which also failed, then finally bought the correct replacement.
The basic problem was that the contacts were corroded, providing a high resistance path, so house battery charging was not zero, but was quite poor.
Details:?

They could hear it, however, they suggested I take it to a suspension shop for a full diagnosis since it wasn't obvious.

I found a shop that specializes in Porsche/Audi/VW who does everything from Porsche race prep to air cooled VWs.? They seem to be pretty familiar with Eurovans and I've seen one or two at the shop the few times I've been there.

" worn torsion bar bushings can cause a clunk noise when going over bumps"

I'm told this is one of those fun jobs that takes hours to replace a pretty inexpensive part. They say I should brace for about $800 for labor since a ton of the suspension has to be completely disassembled to get to this bushing.

So my questions are these:
  1. Does anyone know how to definitively?diagnose a bad torsion bar bushing?
  2. Has anyone ever had to replace a torsion bar bushing and can you corroborate that this is a pretty huge job?
  3. The shop is pretty backed up and won't be able to get to it for a bit.? Assuming it is in fact a torsion bar bushing, is it unsafe to drive or just annoying???
