Re: clutch and transmission advice

As has been noted here recently, the correct level is the botton edge of the fill hole. ?Park on level ground, take out the fill hole plug, add oil til it overflows, and you are finished.

Manual tranny oil is a life-of-the-vehicle fluid. ?You should never have to change it, although there certainly no harm in doing so.

Just this past weekend I noticed my manual transmission leaking,
Toward the engine side of the tranny is a diamond shaped plate with "VW"
deeply embossed. ?The two bolt heads holding the plate were beaded with
tranny oil (thick and viscous.)

Don't know what this plate is for. ?I took my breaker bar and tweaked each
bolt maybe 1/8 turn. ?What should the correct level be. ?Anyone know? ?Should
one change this oil at say 50,000 (where I am now)

Looking for ideas, STEVE with 95 EVC
