Just this past weekend I noticed my manual transmission leaking,
Toward the engine side of the tranny is a diamond shaped plate with "VW"
deeply embossed. The two bolt heads holding the plate were beaded with
tranny oil (thick and viscous.)
Don't know what this plate is for. I took my breaker bar and tweaked each
bolt maybe 1/8 turn. What should the correct level be. Anyone know? Should
one change this oil at say 50,000 (where I am now)
