Van folks:
I don't know if anyone has retrofitted a non-VW 2-seat bench into a
Vanagon or EV, but perhaps someone might be interested in trying; perhaps
one of you camper owners who needs more seating space!
A friend of mine allowed a sibling to borrow her Mazda MPV for a weekend
to move some stuff (without the middle bench, to leave more space) and--
whammo, he wrapped it around a telephone pole.
The good news: The sibling walked away from the now pretzel-shaped
people-mover. The bad news: The orphaned middle bench now languishes in
a back room.
It is blue, with a complete lap belt on the right side, and an estranged
Mazda buckle on the left. One could probably find another half (as well
as the necessary bench mounts) at an auto recycler.
It's located in Peterborough, Ontario, although the owner is willing to
drive it to Toronto or Cornwall for pick-up, while on a weekend family
visit. Or you could arrange shipping to your front door.
In terms of price, all they want is to dispose of the unit at _no cost_
to themselves, ASAP. So give them a call:
