my 2.4 diesel sure is an interference engine,
fortunately the hydralic cam followers
have some give, saving the
pistons !

This question has been asked by the group before, but I
don't recall if it was answered: ?Is the 2.5L 5-cylinder engine an
"interference engine", that is, an engine where the the
pistons will hit the valves, and ruin the engine, should the timing belt
break?
I saw the Tappet Brothers use that term in their newspaper
column today and state that most Nissan and Honda engines are that way,
but they didn't offer any additional info except to check with the
service department for your particular brand.
Does anyone here
know? ?
Thanks,
