Have you considered using jb weld to glue it back together and get back on the road? ? Or find a local welder to weld it
On a trip to Florida, we ran over a curb with our Eurovan pulling into a rest stop late at night. It dented the pan and cracked the cast aluminum oil pan.
By dumping in an extra quart of oil every 50 miles, we got it to the VW dealer. They said it couldn't be fixed, an another one wasn't available (i.e. no help at all).
So we found a a welding shop that could weld up the crack in the VW parking lot. It cost $100, but was probably cheaper than VW would have charged even if they could have done the work.
That was 14 years ago, and it's still holding. :-)
I imagine the same thing could be done with your shift lever. The key is to find a welder that knows what the metal actually is, and so can use the right techniques to repair it.
