I did a lot of searching on this group on finding an alternative to the
stock primary battery size 97 for my 2001 EV which is a hard to find
size. I wanted to add to these archives that size 78 work well and I
chose this size for its high amperage capability. I used an easy-to-
find Exide Classis 72-Month model 78DT-72 which has 1000 CCA at 32F and
850 at 0F (a lot higher than stock and very close in size). The 78DT is
a dual terminal battery (top and side posts) and the top posts are in
the middle of the battery requiring that you move and re-adjust the
wires just a bit but the overall fit works great. I hope this helps
some other EV owner in the future...
