Nicely put Donaldbaer..simply put..the magnets
don't require burning energy to be magnetic. Also,
mmotsenbocker, if you check the life expectancy of Neodymium
Iron Boron magnets/or even Simarium Cobalt you will
find that yer boat will be gone long before the
magnets loose their magnetism. As for Elco...they use GE
motors because they are cheap and their mark-up is high.
Elco is making their money building boats...they just
happen to be electric..but they are not blazing any
trails in elctric research...as a matter of fact..they
are probably reading this email to learn from us and
see what they can gleen from our research. While
donalbaer, myself, and others knock heads ocasionally it
still stands that, except for the US Navy, this is
still the place to learn about the cutting edge as well
as tried and true practices.
Just to let you in
on a little dirty secret...I have a memo in front of
me from Mr. Houghton himself requesting info from my
manufacturer on Solomon motors. Trying to get them cheaper
direct from the manufacturer behind my back. Believe me,
these new magnet motors are the way to go if you want
to push props with authority and efficiency.
Marinized they are more expensive..but even unMarinized the
out perform the other options.
Solomon has just
completed a 35 ft. Shuttleworth catamaran and 30 ft
Islander which I will have pictures of soon.

Dave
