Locked The true cost of converting a windows program for use on a Mac 2
Duncan, Thank you for the free software. I have used it for many years and appreciate the work that you have done. To Mac Users, I am running PSUD II version 2.2 Build 73 on my MacBookPro. When installing you have to allow an installation from outside the Apple store. I developed commercial applications for Android, Apple, Apple iOS and Windows computers. PSUD II is specifically written for the Windows OSes and requires the Win32 library (only available on a Mac running a windows virtual machine or emulator). The $99 cost for using the apple store is most likely not the issue. He would have to translate the program to a code language that is compatible with the Apple OS. This is not a trivial exercise and could take months to do. I know this because I have translated some of my windows programs to both Android and the Apple iOS. Programs that I use personally and do not want to waste time converting I run on my Mac using a Windows OS virtual machine. The workaround for MacOS is very straightforward. After trying to open PSUD for the first time, go to System Preferences>Security and Privacy>General tab. You will then have to "unlock" the pane by clicking the lock at the left lower corner and entering your password. I don't recall the exact sequence, but you should be able to then allow MacOS to run PSUD. Out of curiosity, what would it cost to be an "identified developer"? Locked Mac won't open because developer cannot be verified 10
Hi, I have a new Mac after years of PC only, and when I download the Mac version from the website I get a message saying: “psud2_build73” cannot be opened because the developer cannot be verified. macOS cannot verify that this app is free from malware." I looked back in the group and it seems like folks are not having this issue. Any suggestions? Thanks, Pete

Problem downloading .psu example files 8
Hello Duncan. I installed the latest version on my new laptop and tried to download some of the examples from the download section of your site in the psud2 area, but I did not managed to do so. Could you please check the link or point where these .psu examples can be downloaded from? Perhaps from here? Thanks in advance, Konstantinos, SV1ONW

PSUD possible issue on corner case power supply 6
PSUD gives me this result on a particular power supply (yes, the choke is underspecified on purpose). Playing with rectifier leak mitigates the problem somewhat, but it still looks unnatural. Is this a math problem or is my rectifier in actual danger of blowing up?

MacOS Error 2
Good morning. Running MacOS 12.1 Monterey. When I opened psud this morning, I got the following error popups. Clicked "OK" in both cases to ignore, but psud does not open. Downloaded build 77, but got the exact same error messages . . . Any ideas? Chris

Enhabcement 6
Hi Duncan, My PC has 32GB and I get OOM messages when I try to simulate over 80s delay. Additionally, is updating the screen with calculation status slowing the final data? Seems slightly lethargic given the hardware? -- - Ian

Feature request 2
I've been using this brilliant piece of software for years but I think there's a missing function that could be useful to many diyers. I'm referring to hybrid bridges. Now I'm working at a little 2A3 amplifier and the idea is to use two silicon carbide diodes to ground and a 5Z3 on the positive leg. This solution has several practical advantages and works great. Would it be possible to add it? Many thanks.

Transformer primary voltage entry won't stay put on Mac version 18
I recently got a Macbook pro and downloaded the mac version of PSUD2. Only having a couple of issues I wanted to run by the group. 1. toolbar above the design area stays hidden until you move your cursor up to the top of the screen then it appears as long as you keep it there. Maybe this is just an Apple issue but wanted to check with you as well. 2. When I enter the transformer primary voltage of 120, it enters fine but when hitting the OK at the bottom of the block and reopen, it keeps changing back to the 240 volts. I've tried removing the program and reinstalling but still does the same thing every time. Thanks!

Multi-Screen Bug 5
Hello, I do wish the application either always started on the primary screen or on the last close screen. It's most annoying to have it open in the middle of the desktop surface with multiple monitors, i.e. split between monitor 0 and monitor 1. It's probably ok for 1 or 3 monitors, but not 2 or 4 - Ian

Messages / Emails from the PSUD group
Hi, Message posts on this group are infrequent, however when we do have some messages going out there are a flurry of unsubscribes. Emails are not always welcome, and these groups default to sending an email for every message that comes in. If that is tiresome, or unwelcome you can reduce it or switch off altogether and still stay a member of the group to read the messages when you wish. Your subscription can be managed at: /g/duncanampspsud/editsub The choices are fairly self-explanatory. The default is "Individual Messages" which will generate an email to you for each message and each reply - this is too much for some people, I know. You can select one of the digest options which packages up a dozen messages and puts them in one email, or a daily digest that gives the whole narrative for the previous day in one email. There's "Special Notices Only" which will only ever be used if there is an upgrade to a new production release of the software. And finally, "No Email" which switches all the email notifications off. You can still log into the group and see the messages, and also post messages Hopefully that information is useful and will allow you to get the right balance of updates from the group. Regards, Duncan

Hi all - I'm using an older 2010 Mac and am having problems installing. I'm getting the error in the subject. Any suggestions, other than it's just an incompatibility issue? Thanks! Scott

Can PSUD2 model this PSU? 3
I have a basic PSU design for my tube amp that I am trying to simulate, however since I have multiple B+ rails I am struggling to add multiple (different) load resistors in the right spots so I can get my main B+ rail to work out but the secondary B+ rail is way off from my expectations probably due to the missing load resistor (I can only add one in this app). Any pointers? I am trying to measure Bpl and Bsl in my diagram below.

PSUD2 Build 77 (Mac) released 2
A revised Mac version has been released to address a user interface performance issue when operating Dark mode. This should now operate correctly, along with better handling of changes in theme. It can be downloaded from the files area -> /g/duncanampspsud/files/psud2_macos Thanks to Waldo for highlighting the issue. Regards, Duncan

build 75 slow on Mac Pro 2
Hi, It seems like the UI of build 75 is much slower and more laggy on macOS 11 than build 73. I upgraded to 75 to get dark mode support but moving the mouse over the different filter sections is laggy by about 400ms or so. I am on a very fast Mac Pro 2019. Waldo
